Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons that develop practical cooking skills, creativity, nutritional understanding, and food preparation confidence.
* Plan engaging classroom and practical activities that help students explore ingredients, food processes, food safety, sustainability, and product development.
* Use hands-on learning, experimentation, and project-based tasks to connect food education with real-world applications.
* Support students in understanding ethical food choices, healthy eating, environmental responsibility, and sustainable production methods.
* Integrate innovation, digital tools, and emerging food technologies into learning where appropriate.
* Create a safe, well-managed practical learning environment that follows hygiene, safety, and school safeguarding standards.
* Assess student progress through practical work, written tasks, observations, and creative food technology projects.
* Encourage student curiosity by linking food technology with science, design, wellbeing, industry trends, and future career pathways.
* Work with colleagues to enrich curriculum planning and contribute to wider school initiatives, showcases, and innovation-based learning.
* Build positive relationships with students and parents while supporting academic progress, confidence, and personal development.
Ideal Profile
* Recognised teaching qualification such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent.
* Experience teaching Food Technology, Design and Technology, culinary education, nutrition, food science, or a closely related subject.
* Strong understanding of practical classroom management, food hygiene, health and safety, and student safeguarding.
* Ability to design lessons that combine practical skills, creativity, science, sustainability, and technology.
* Confident using modern teaching methods that support personalised learning and student engagement.
* Passion for helping students develop life skills, problem-solving ability, and awareness of future food-related careers.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with teachers, students, families, and school leaders.
* Interest in innovation, AI-supported learning environments, robotics, VR, AR, and future-focused education is an advantage.
