Role Context
The Head of Education - Charter Schools will support strategic educational improvement across a growing network of managed schools in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on raising student outcomes, developing future-focused curriculum models, supporting leadership teams, strengthening quality assurance, improving inspection readiness, and aligning school improvement work with Abu Dhabi’s wider education priorities. By combining strong pedagogy, strategic thinking, data analysis, and stakeholder collaboration, the position helps create inclusive, innovative, and high-performing learning environments for students and educators.
Key Responsibilities
* Co-create, develop, and implement improvement strategies that raise educational outcomes for Charter School students.
* Monitor and support education initiatives designed to improve attainment, progress, teaching quality, and learner experience.
* Work with the wider school improvement team to enhance provision across Charter Schools and ensure curricula remain fit for purpose.
* Support school leadership teams in delivering dynamic, inclusive, and innovative learning opportunities for all students.
* Guide Charter School leaders in identifying training needs and sourcing professional development support on educational matters.
* Strengthen quality assurance processes and programmes related to education across the Charter Schools network.
* Support the development of future-focused curriculum models aligned with learner needs and educational priorities.
* Work with education, IT, and technology teams to explore, develop, and implement US Curriculum models across Charter Schools.
* Assist in the development of online learning solutions that meet current and future learner requirements.
* Work with leadership teams to apply forensic data analysis that drives measurable improvements in student attainment.
* Ensure reporting deadlines are met and all schools follow robust quality assurance processes.
* Act as a trusted source of support, advice, and expertise for staff and leadership teams on education matters.
* Support school leadership teams in progressing Emiratisation objectives in collaboration with People and Culture.
* Partner with ADEK to support the continued success and compliance of the Charter Schools programme.
* Provide support to Executive Management on document preparation, bid materials, and education inputs for new Charter School projects.
* Research current pedagogy trends and share relevant practices across the Charter Schools network.
* Work closely with Charter School leaders to support inspection preparation and readiness.
* Coordinate and line manage the Charter HQ education team to ensure education functions are covered, supported, quality assured, and continuously developed.
* Undertake additional duties assigned by the Director of Charter Schools where aligned with education leadership and school improvement priorities.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Education or Bachelor’s degree with postgraduate teaching qualification such as PGCE.
* Master’s degree in Education will be an advantage.
* Minimum 2 years of senior leadership experience in a school setting.
* Previous experience as a Principal or at least Head of School level in Primary or Secondary education.
* Strong record of outstanding and inclusive teaching practice, pedagogy, and education leadership.
* Genuine understanding and appreciation of UAE regional values, culture, and education priorities.
* Strong ability to inspire, coach, develop, and influence school leaders and education teams.
* Experience supporting curriculum development, school improvement planning, quality assurance, and inspection readiness.
* Strong understanding of student data analysis and its use in improving attainment and educational outcomes.
* Ability to work collaboratively with government bodies, school leaders, executive management, and multidisciplinary teams.
* Fluent written and spoken English communication skills.
* Strong attention to detail with diligent follow-up and timely execution.
* Able to manage multiple priorities, handle pressure, and maintain high professional standards.
* Strong organizational skills for self, teams, projects, and school improvement processes.
* Forward planning ability, especially in relation to local government compliance and education reporting requirements.
