Role Context
The Head of Key Stage 2 will lead academic planning, curriculum quality, assessment review, teaching standards, and student progress across the Key Stage 2 phase. The role supports staff development, intervention planning, inclusive provision, school self-evaluation, and the creation of a positive learning environment where pupils of all abilities can achieve meaningful progress.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement Key Stage 2 policies and practices aligned with the school vision, academic aims, and high standards of achievement.
* Establish, monitor, and evaluate short, medium, and long-term plans for phase development.
* Use assessment data to identify underachieving students and create targeted action plans to improve progress.
* Analyse and interpret school data to support phase planning, policy development, and school self-evaluation.
* Ensure relevant schemes of work are developed, implemented, reviewed, and improved across all Key Stage 2 year groups.
* Build suitable provision into planning for SEN-POD, gifted and talented, and EAL students.
* Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression for all pupils, including high-ability learners and students with additional needs.
* Set clear expectations for staff regarding achievement, teaching quality, learning standards, and behaviour.
* Evaluate teaching and learning across the phase and identify effective practice and areas for improvement.
* Take practical action to strengthen classroom delivery, student engagement, and academic outcomes.
* Support teachers with planning, assessment, differentiation, classroom practice, and student intervention.
* Work closely with senior leaders to contribute to whole-school improvement priorities.
* Promote positive behaviour, high expectations, inclusive practice, and strong learning routines across Key Stage 2.
* Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and school leaders regarding student progress and phase development.
* Support a school culture that respects Emirati community values, parent aspirations, and ADEK expectations.
* Uphold safeguarding standards, professional conduct, school policies, and Aldar Education expectations at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE or another recognised teacher qualification.
* Proven experience teaching in a British curriculum primary school.
* Previous Key Stage 2 leadership, phase leadership, subject leadership, or middle leadership experience preferred.
* Strong understanding of curriculum planning, assessment, student progress tracking, and school improvement.
* Ability to use data effectively to identify learning gaps and improve student outcomes.
* Experience supporting SEN-POD, gifted and talented, and EAL learners through inclusive planning.
* Confident leadership skills with the ability to guide, support, and develop teaching staff.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with parents, teachers, support teams, and senior leaders.
* High expectations for teaching quality, student behaviour, achievement, and professional standards.
* Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, inclusive education, and continuous improvement.
* Understanding and appreciation of the values of the Abu Dhabi school community.
* Police clearance, satisfactory references, and safeguarding checks required for appointment.
