Role Context
The Head of KS2 will support the academy’s vision, improvement priorities, curriculum quality, assessment systems, staff performance, and student progress across Key Stage 2. The role contributes to curriculum continuity, inclusive learning, safeguarding compliance, student achievement tracking, and the development of strong teaching practice aligned with the school’s improvement plan and self-evaluation priorities.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the academy in achieving its overall vision, strategic intentions, improvement plan targets, and self-evaluation priorities.
* Develop, implement, review, and evaluate schemes of work for all relevant Key Stage 2 year groups and courses.
* Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression for all students, including high-ability learners and students with special educational needs.
* Build suitable provision into planning for SEN, gifted and talented, and EAL students.
* Establish and implement clear policies and practices for assessing, recording, and reporting student achievement.
* Use student progress information to support planning, intervention, curriculum improvement, and phase development.
* Guide teachers in maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, classroom practice, and behaviour.
* Support staff in delivering differentiated lessons that meet the needs of a diverse primary school community.
* Contribute to academy improvement planning and help strengthen phase-wide academic outcomes.
* Comply with health and safety regulations, safe working practice, equal opportunities expectations, and school policies.
* Follow the academy’s Performance Management Policy and support performance review duties if directed by the Principal.
* Engage in annual training linked to child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, academy improvement, and performance management.
* Maintain professional standards including staff dress code, photo ID, lanyard use, and responsible technology use under the Acceptable Use Policy.
* Work collaboratively with senior leaders, teachers, support staff, parents, and the wider school community.
* Promote a positive school culture that reflects regional values, child wellbeing, inclusion, and high expectations.
* Uphold safeguarding responsibilities, professional conduct, and Aldar Education standards at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE or another recognised teacher qualification.
* Proven experience teaching within a British curriculum primary school.
* Previous Key Stage 2 leadership, phase leadership, curriculum leadership, or middle leadership experience preferred.
* Strong understanding of Key Stage 2 curriculum planning, assessment, reporting, and student progress tracking.
* Ability to develop and review schemes of work that support progression and inclusive learning.
* Experience supporting SEN, gifted and talented, and EAL learners through differentiated provision.
* Confident leadership skills with the ability to support teachers and improve classroom practice.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with staff, parents, senior leaders, and support teams.
* Understanding of academy improvement planning, self-evaluation, safeguarding, and performance management.
* High expectations for achievement, behaviour, professional standards, and student wellbeing.
* Appreciation of the values of the Abu Dhabi school community and the aspirations of Emirati families.
* Police clearance, satisfactory references, and safeguarding checks required for appointment.
