Head of Upper Primary Section - Leadership in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a senior Education Management role focused on leading the Upper Primary section of a British curriculum school. The position requires an experienced academic leader who can strengthen teaching quality, improve student learning outcomes, support curriculum development, guide teachers, and contribute to whole-school improvement through effective leadership, strategic planning, and high standards of academic accountability.
Role Context
The Head of Upper Primary Section - Leadership will provide professional and highly effective leadership across the Primary wing, with a strong focus on attainment, progress, engagement, inclusion, curriculum enrichment, and teaching excellence. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, the role contributes to school improvement planning, KHDA readiness, instructional supervision, teacher development, parent engagement, and the creation of a positive learning environment that supports academic excellence and holistic student growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Upper Primary section with a clear vision for academic excellence, student wellbeing, inclusion, and continuous school improvement.
* Contribute to the strategic leadership of the school as an active member of the Senior Leadership Team.
* Support the development and implementation of school improvement plans, self-evaluation processes, and teaching and learning priorities within the section.
* Foster a high-quality learning environment that promotes academic progress, holistic education, student engagement, and strong learning outcomes.
* Supervise instructional programs by reviewing lesson plans, observing classroom practice, and providing constructive feedback to teachers.
* Demonstrate and promote best practice pedagogy across the Upper Primary section.
* Work with teachers to ensure effective curriculum planning, differentiated instruction, assessment practice, and progress monitoring for students of all abilities.
* Liaise with curriculum and assessment teams to review curriculum development, triangulate data, and monitor progress and attainment across key performance indicators.
* Lead the use of assessment data to identify learning gaps, improve intervention strategies, and raise student achievement.
* Support teacher growth through learning and development training programs, live workshops, online workshops, coaching, and professional development initiatives.
* Oversee e-learning strategies and encourage staff engagement with new digital learning initiatives.
* Promote a strong commitment to inclusion, child protection, student safety, and positive classroom practice.
* Imbibe and enhance UAE culture within the school in line with National Agenda Parameter expectations and local education regulations.
* Build and sustain high-performing teams through clear expectations, collaboration, accountability, and professional support.
* Maintain highly effective relationships with parents, teachers, students, school leadership, and the wider school community.
* Support KHDA inspection readiness by maintaining strong evidence of teaching quality, student progress, curriculum standards, safeguarding, and leadership impact.
* Ensure health and safety, child protection, and school policy expectations are followed across the Upper Primary section.
* Contribute to a culture of vibrant CPD, shared expertise, reflective practice, and continuous professional growth.
Ideal Profile
* Relevant educational qualifications suitable for a senior school leadership role.
* Proven experience in Primary or Upper Primary leadership within a British curriculum school.
* Strong understanding of KHDA inspection frameworks, school self-evaluation, and UAE education expectations.
* Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, curriculum development, assessment review, and teaching quality improvement.
* Confident knowledge of best practice pedagogy and the ability to guide teachers toward stronger classroom outcomes.
* Experience in developing and sustaining high-performance academic teams.
* Strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding, inclusion, and health and safety standards.
* Ability to analyze student progress data, attainment trends, intervention needs, and school performance indicators.
* Excellent relationship management skills, especially with parents and the school community.
* Strong English communication skills with the ability to lead meetings, present information, coach staff, and engage stakeholders professionally.
