Role Context
The History Teacher - Secondary Education will join GEMS Wellington Academy, Silicon Oasis and contribute to a school culture built around high expectations, wellbeing, inclusion, creativity, and strong teaching pedagogy. The role focuses on helping students understand historical knowledge, source analysis, critical thinking, evidence-based argument, written communication, and real-world connections. The successful teacher will support students across KS4 and KS5 or equivalent pathways while contributing to the wider school community through collaboration, enrichment, and positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver high-quality History lessons that build historical knowledge, enquiry skills, critical thinking, and confident written analysis.
* Teach History to KS4, KS5, or equivalent levels using engaging, evidence-based teaching strategies.
* Create lessons that are creative, inclusive, structured, and adapted to meet the needs of different learners.
* Build positive relationships with students and encourage curiosity, discussion, reflection, and independent thinking.
* Use assessment information to monitor progress, identify gaps, and provide timely feedback that helps students improve.
* Prepare students for internal assessments, external examinations, coursework expectations, and advanced historical study where applicable.
* Differentiate learning for students with varied abilities, learning profiles, language needs, and academic confidence levels.
* Collaborate with department colleagues to share outstanding practice, develop resources, and strengthen curriculum delivery.

Ideal Profile
* BEd or Bachelor\'s degree with PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent teaching qualification.
* Proven experience teaching History to KS4, KS5, or equivalent levels.
* Strong record of delivering outstanding teaching and learning.
* Good knowledge of curriculum planning, assessment practice, student progress tracking, and examination preparation.
* Creative and enthusiastic approach to teaching History inside and outside the classroom.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with colleagues, students, and parents.
* Willingness to collaborate, share outstanding practice, and contribute to department improvement.
