Role Context
The Homeroom Teacher will manage daily classroom learning, plan engaging sessions, assess student progress, and support children academically, socially, and emotionally. The role has a direct impact on student achievement, classroom culture, parent engagement, and the school’s wider mission to provide high-quality learning opportunities in a caring and innovative school community.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver inspiring homeroom lessons that help students achieve strong learning outcomes.
* Plan, prepare, and present classroom sessions that meet the needs of different ability levels.
* Organise classroom resources, learning areas, and displays to create a positive and engaging environment.
* Work with fellow teachers to plan lessons that meet curriculum expectations and student development needs.
* Use enthusiastic and imaginative teaching methods to motivate pupils and encourage active participation.
* Observe, assess, and record student development in line with school assessment expectations.
* Use Target Tracker and assessment data to guide planning, support intervention, and improve student progress.
* Take responsibility for the academic progress, wellbeing, and classroom experience of assigned students.
* Support learners in developing independence, self-control, positive behaviour, and respectful attitudes.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and apply suitable classroom management strategies.
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student achievement, progress, and wellbeing.
* Work with curriculum support staff and external professionals such as therapists or educational psychologists when required.
* Contribute to curriculum action groups, planning, assessment, resources, and school events.
* Support school outings, weekend or evening activities, and wider community events when needed.
* Run a weekly extra-curricular activity each term.
* Use school systems such as CPOMS where appropriate to support safeguarding and communication processes.
* Uphold safeguarding expectations, school policies, professional standards, and child welfare responsibilities at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related subject with PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience.
* Clear understanding of curriculum planning, classroom provision, assessment, and student development.
* Previous experience working with students for whom English is not the first language.
* Strong passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
* Excellent communication skills with students, parents, colleagues, and the wider school community.
* Ability to build positive relationships and work flexibly as part of a teaching team.
* Reflective classroom approach with the ability to adjust planning, provision, and learning activities.
* High level of professionalism with strong consideration for children’s wellbeing.
* Recent involvement in extra-curricular activities.
* Respectful and inclusive attitude toward all members of the school community.
* Positive and solution-focused approach to daily school life.
* Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check, police clearance, or equivalent background check required.
* Ability to reside in the same Emirate as the assigned school.
