Role Context
The Humanities Teacher will plan, teach, assess, and support learners through well-structured lessons that develop understanding of people, places, societies, history, culture, geography, and citizenship. The role contributes to student achievement, classroom engagement, parent communication, behaviour expectations, and the wider school mission of exciting, challenging, and empowering students within a progressive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver inspiring humanities lessons that support strong student learning outcomes.
* Plan, prepare, and present classroom sessions that meet curriculum expectations and the needs of different ability levels.
* Organise classroom resources, learning materials, and displays to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
* Support students in developing knowledge of history, geography, culture, society, civic awareness, and critical thinking.
* Use imaginative and age-appropriate teaching strategies to motivate students and encourage participation.
* Work with fellow teachers to plan lessons, share practice, and maintain consistent curriculum delivery.
* Observe and assess students in line with school assessment procedures and learning expectations.
* Use Target Tracker and assessment data to guide planning, intervention, and student progress support.
* Take responsibility for student progress, wellbeing, and the daily classroom learning experience.
* Build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, curriculum support staff, and the wider school community.
* Communicate with parents and caretakers about student progress, achievement, and wellbeing during meetings and conferences.
* Liaise with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and other professionals when required.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and apply suitable strategies to inspire, motivate, and challenge students.
* Promote self-control, independence, respect, responsibility, and positive learning habits.
* Work as part of curriculum action groups, supporting planning, assessment, resources, and special school events.
* Support school outings, activities, community events, and extra-curricular programmes, including a weekly ECA each term.
* Use CPOMS or relevant school systems where appropriate to support safeguarding and communication processes.
* Uphold safeguarding expectations, school policies, professional conduct, and Aldar Education standards at all times.
Ideal Profile
* UAE National candidate.
* Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities, History, Geography, Education, Social Studies, or a related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised teacher qualification.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience.
* Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
* Clear understanding of curriculum planning, classroom provision, assessment, and student development.
* Passion for humanities teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
* Ability to create engaging lessons that support curiosity, discussion, cultural understanding, and learner confidence.
* Excellent communication skills with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders.
* Reflective teaching approach with the ability to adjust planning, classroom environment, and learning strategies.
* High level of professionalism with strong consideration for children’s wellbeing.
* Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities.
* Respectful and inclusive attitude toward all members of the school community.
* Positive, solution-focused approach to working life.
* Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check, police clearance, or equivalent background check required.
