Role Context
The Inclusion Assistant will provide practical, academic, emotional, behavioural, and social support to identified pupils inside and outside the classroom. The role contributes to student progress by helping implement Individual Education Programmes, preparing differentiated resources, supporting therapy targets, maintaining classroom routines, and promoting independence in line with the school’s inclusion goals and safeguarding expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Support individual pupils in class, small groups, specialist lessons, school activities, and other learning settings.
* Assist students with academic, physical, emotional, behavioural, social, and communication needs.
* Help implement Individual Education Programmes linked to student IEP goals.
* Contribute to monitoring pupil progress, attainment, classroom participation, and target development.
* Prepare learning materials and differentiated resources to help students access the curriculum.
* Promote student independence by teaching clear, meaningful, and practical support strategies.
* Work closely with homeroom teachers, subject teachers, the Head of Inclusion, and other school staff.
* Assist teachers with maintaining pupil records and classroom support documentation.
* Support health and safety expectations and remain proactive in matters affecting pupil wellbeing.
* Follow confidentiality guidelines and respect formal communication procedures with parents.
* Provide individual instruction as directed by the teacher and group support where appropriate.
* Demonstrate instructional activities and help pupils remain focused on assigned classroom tasks.
* Monitor, check, and correct student work in line with teacher guidance and school policy.
* Praise student achievements, reinforce positive learning behaviours, and report progress to teachers.
* Supervise pupils during classroom learning, specialist sessions, trips, visits, and extra-curricular activities.
* Support behaviour expectations, self-esteem, and positive discipline in line with whole-school policy.
* Attend SaLT, OT, ABA, or other therapy sessions when required and help generalise target skills in school.
* Attend training sessions, professional meetings, and intervention planning discussions when requested.
* Work with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to support student development.
* Mentor new Inclusion Assistants when experienced, or participate in mentoring as part of team development.
* Follow school policies, code of conduct, health and safety requirements, safeguarding standards, and professional expectations.
Ideal Profile
* UAE National candidate.
* SEN qualification or Diploma required.
* Minimum 2 years of SEN experience.
* Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs in a school setting.
* Understanding of IEP goals, differentiated classroom support, and inclusive education practice.
* Ability to support students with academic, physical, emotional, behavioural, and communication needs.
* Patient, caring, respectful, and professional approach to working with children.
* Strong communication skills for working with teachers, inclusion teams, therapists, and students.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow school communication procedures.
* Good organisation skills with the ability to prepare resources and support daily classroom routines.
* Reliable attendance, punctuality, appropriate presentation, and strong professional conduct.
* Positive attitude toward training, teamwork, mentoring, and continuous development.
* Ability to support school trips, visits, ECA activities, and wider school life when required.
