Role Context
The Inclusion Assistant will support individual pupils inside and outside the classroom by helping them access differentiated learning, follow routines, develop social communication skills, and make progress against planned support targets. The role contributes to inclusive classroom practice, student confidence, teacher support, therapy target reinforcement, health and safety, and the school’s wider aim of nurturing learners through collaboration, leadership, and creativity.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide individual and small group support to pupils inside and outside the classroom.
* Help students participate fully in learning activities, specialist lessons, school routines, and wider school events.
* Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Programmes linked to student IEP goals.
* Monitor student progress, attainment, engagement, and participation, then share updates with teachers.
* Support pupils with academic, physical, emotional, behavioural, social, and communication needs.
* Prepare resources and classroom materials that help identified students access or differentiate the curriculum.
* Promote independence by teaching clear, meaningful, and practical strategies to students.
* Assist homeroom and subject teachers with maintaining pupil records and classroom documentation.
* Follow health and safety expectations and remain proactive in matters affecting student welfare.
* Build close working relationships with homeroom teachers, subject teachers, and the Head of Inclusion.
* Communicate regularly and professionally with teachers about student needs, progress, and support strategies.
* Maintain confidentiality and respect formal parent communication procedures led by teachers and inclusion leaders.
* Provide individual instruction as directed by the teacher and group support where appropriate.
* Demonstrate instructional activities and keep pupils focused on assigned learning tasks.
* Check and support student work in line with teacher guidance and school policy.
* Praise student achievements and reinforce positive effort, confidence, and participation.
* Supervise pupils in classrooms, specialist lessons, school trips, ECA activities, and other school locations.
* Support positive behaviour, self-esteem, and discipline in line with the whole-school behaviour policy.
* Attend SaLT, OT, ABA, or related therapy sessions when required and help reinforce target skills in school.
* Attend training sessions, professional meetings, trips, visits, and school activities as required.
* Mentor new Inclusion Assistants when experienced or participate in mentoring when assigned.
* Complete additional duties as requested by the Principal or Head of Inclusion.
Ideal Profile
* UAE National candidate.
* Minimum SEN qualification required.
* Secondary school certificate or Bachelor’s degree.
* At least 1 year of experience working in UAE schools.
* Experience supporting students with additional learning needs in a classroom environment.
* Understanding of IEP goals, differentiated learning, and student support strategies.
* English language skills or strong ability in the language used in the school curriculum.
* Ability to support pupils with academic, behavioural, emotional, physical, social, and communication needs.
* Patient, respectful, caring, and professional approach to working with children.
* Strong teamwork skills for working with teachers, therapists, inclusion staff, and school leaders.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow school communication procedures.
* Reliable attendance, punctuality, professional dress, and positive conduct.
* Willingness to attend training, professional meetings, school trips, ECA activities, and therapy-related support sessions.
