Role Context
The Inclusion Teacher will support students by planning accessible learning, adapting classroom provision, monitoring progress, and helping learners develop independence, confidence, and positive behaviour. The role contributes to student wellbeing, inclusive classroom practice, parent communication, assessment processes, and the wider school aim of delivering high-quality education across PYP, UK curriculum, IGCSE, and IB pathways.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver inclusive lessons and learning support that help students achieve the best possible outcomes.
* Plan, prepare, and present sessions that meet curriculum expectations and support different ability levels.
* Organise classroom provision, learning resources, and displays to create an engaging and accessible learning environment.
* Work with fellow teachers to plan lessons that meet curriculum requirements and individual student needs.
* Support students through enthusiastic, imaginative, and needs-aware teaching approaches.
* Observe and assess learners in line with school assessment expectations and student development targets.
* Use Target Tracker and assessment data to guide planning, provision, intervention, and progress monitoring.
* Take responsibility for student progress, wellbeing, participation, and learning confidence.
* Liaise with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and other professionals when required.
* Work cooperatively with curriculum support staff to support children’s development and classroom access.
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers about student progress, achievements, and wellbeing.
* Use school systems such as CPOMS where appropriate to support communication and safeguarding processes.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and apply strategies that inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
* Promote self-control, independence, confidence, respectful attitudes, and positive learning behaviour.
* Contribute to curriculum action groups, planning, assessment, resources, and special school events.
* Support outings, activities, community events, and extra-curricular programmes, including a weekly ECA each term.
* Maintain professional standards, confidentiality, safeguarding expectations, and school policies at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE or another recognised teacher qualification.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience.
* Experience in inclusion, special education, learning support, or working with students with additional learning needs is highly desirable.
* Previous experience working with students for whom English is not the first language.
* Strong understanding of curriculum planning, differentiated instruction, classroom provision, and student assessment.
* Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
* Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the wider school community.
* Reflective approach with the ability to adjust planning, classroom environment, and learning strategies.
* High level of professionalism with strong consideration for children’s wellbeing.
* Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities.
* Respectful and inclusive attitude toward all members of the school community.
* Positive, flexible, and solution-focused approach to school life.
* Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check, police clearance, or equivalent background check required.
