Role Context
The Islamic Studies Teacher - Non-Arab Students will teach Islamic Studies primarily in English and help students understand core Islamic concepts through age-appropriate lessons, interactive activities, translated resources, and respectful classroom discussions. The role requires strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, curriculum planning ability, and a nurturing approach to guiding students in Islamic knowledge, values, ethics, history, and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
* Teach Islamic Studies to non-Arab students using English or another suitable language appropriate for learner understanding.
* Prepare structured lesson plans aligned with curriculum expectations, age level, student ability, and school academic standards.
* Teach core Islamic topics including the Five Pillars of Islam, Islamic beliefs, worship practices, basic Fiqh, Islamic manners, and moral conduct.
* Help students learn about the life of Prophet Muhammad PBUH, stories of the Prophets, Qur’anic values, Islamic history, and Islamic culture.
* Use translations, visual resources, discussion-based activities, storytelling, projects, and digital tools to make Islamic learning accessible.
* Foster a respectful, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that supports spiritual growth, confidence, and student participation.
* Use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles, language abilities, and cultural backgrounds.
* Monitor student progress through class participation, assignments, assessments, projects, oral responses, and written tasks.
* Provide regular feedback to students and communicate professionally with parents regarding learning progress and development.
* Encourage students to understand and apply Islamic values such as kindness, respect, honesty, responsibility, compassion, and discipline.
* Participate in school events, Islamic activities, celebrations, assemblies, and values-based learning initiatives.
* Collaborate with fellow teachers, coordinators, and school leadership to enhance curriculum delivery and improve learning outcomes.
* Serve as a positive role model by upholding Islamic values within the classroom and wider school community.
* Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, assessments, student progress, attendance, and academic documentation.
* Follow school policies related to safeguarding, inclusion, classroom management, assessment, and student wellbeing.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies, Education, or a related field.
* Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably with non-Arabic speaking students.
* Fluency in English is required.
* Arabic language ability will be an advantage but is not mandatory.
* Strong knowledge of Islamic teachings, values, culture, history, basic Fiqh, Qur’anic values, and Islamic manners.
* Familiarity with international, bilingual, or multicultural school environments will be an advantage.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, classroom management, and student engagement skills.
* Ability to explain Islamic concepts in a simple, respectful, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive manner.
* Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to teaching and student development.
* Ability to integrate technology, interactive tools, and creative teaching methods into lessons.
