Role Context
The Islamic Studies Teacher will plan, teach, assess, and support learners through engaging lessons that strengthen understanding of Islamic values, curriculum expectations, personal development, and positive behaviour. The role supports student achievement, classroom routines, parent communication, assessment processes, and the school’s wider vision of nurturing learners through collaboration, leadership, and creativity.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver Islamic Studies lessons that inspire students and support strong learning outcomes.
* Plan, prepare, and present classroom sessions that meet curriculum requirements and student learning needs.
* Organise classroom resources, displays, and learning materials to create a positive and engaging environment.
* Use inclusive and age-appropriate teaching strategies that encourage participation, reflection, and independence.
* Work alongside fellow teachers to plan lessons that support curriculum goals and student development.
* Build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, curriculum support staff, and the wider school community.
* Observe and assess students in line with school assessment expectations and learning standards.
* Use Target Tracker and assessment data to guide planning, intervention, and student progress support.
* Take responsibility for the academic progress, wellbeing, and classroom experience of assigned students.
* Motivate pupils through enthusiastic, imaginative, and respectful teaching practice.
* Support students in developing self-control, independence, positive attitudes, and respectful behaviour.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and manage classes using strategies appropriate to student needs.
* Liaise with support professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists when required.
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress, achievement, and wellbeing.
* Work as part of curriculum action groups, supporting planning, assessment, resources, and special school events.
* Support school events, outings, activities, and wider community initiatives when required.
* Use CPOMS or relevant school systems where appropriate to support safeguarding and communication processes.
* Embed Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes throughout classroom practice.
* Uphold school policies, safeguarding requirements, professional conduct, and Aldar Education expectations at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Studies, Education, or a related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised teacher qualification preferred.
* Teaching experience in an American curriculum, primary, charter school, or international school setting preferred.
* Clear understanding of curriculum planning, assessment, classroom provision, and student development.
* Ability to teach Islamic Studies in an inspiring, respectful, and inclusive way.
* Experience supporting students for whom English is not the first language is an advantage.
* Strong communication skills with students, parents, teachers, and school leaders.
* Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
* Reflective teaching approach with the ability to adapt planning and classroom practice based on student progress.
* High level of professionalism with strong consideration for student wellbeing.
* Respectful attitude toward all members of the school community.
* Positive, flexible, and solution-focused approach to school life.
