Role Context
The Math HOD - Curriculum Coordination will lead and support Mathematics teachers to strengthen pedagogy, curriculum delivery, assessment practice, and student achievement. The role requires close collaboration with school leaders, department teams, and teachers to ensure high-quality Mathematics teaching aligned with British curriculum expectations, UAE teaching standards, and school improvement priorities. The successful candidate should be available in the UAE for a demo and ready to contribute to a professional academic environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Mathematics department with a clear focus on teaching quality, curriculum standards, student progress, and academic achievement.
* Work directly with Mathematics teachers to improve skills, subject knowledge, classroom practice, and teaching pedagogy.
* Support teachers in planning effective Mathematics lessons that promote conceptual understanding, problem-solving, reasoning, and student engagement.
* Contribute effectively to team planning, curriculum mapping, assessment schedules, intervention plans, and departmental improvement priorities.
* Work closely with school leaders to support the improvement of academic standards across Mathematics.
* Monitor teaching and learning through lesson observations, planning reviews, student work reviews, and progress data analysis.
* Provide constructive feedback, coaching, and professional guidance to teachers to improve classroom outcomes.
* Ensure Mathematics lessons meet the UAE framework of teaching expectations and maintain a consistent standard of good teaching.
* Support the development of schemes of work, lesson resources, assessment tools, revision plans, and enrichment activities.
* Analyze student attainment and progress data to identify learning gaps and implement targeted support strategies.
* Promote differentiated instruction to meet the needs of students with varied abilities and learning styles.
* Encourage the use of effective teaching methods, educational technology, and interactive resources in Mathematics lessons.
* Support preparation for internal reviews, inspections, academic audits, and school improvement initiatives.
* Maintain departmental documentation, assessment records, progress reports, meeting notes, and curriculum evidence.
* Build a collaborative department culture focused on professional growth, accountability, innovation, and student success.
* Communicate professionally with teachers, students, parents, coordinators, and school leadership when required.
* Perform additional department-related responsibilities as assigned by school leadership.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
* Master of Science in Mathematics.
* Bachelor of Education qualification is required.
* Distance learning or open university degrees are not accepted.
* Fully qualified Mathematics teacher with exceptional subject knowledge.
* Proven experience teaching Mathematics in a school environment.
* Experience as a Math HOD, Mathematics Coordinator, Subject Lead, or senior Mathematics teacher will be an advantage.
* Familiarity with the British Curriculum is required.
* Strong understanding of the UAE framework of teaching and school inspection expectations.
* Ability to coach teachers, improve pedagogy, and contribute to better student outcomes.
* Strong skills in curriculum planning, assessment review, data analysis, and academic improvement.
* Good command of English with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
