Role Context
The Mathematics Teacher will plan, teach, assess, and support primary learners through structured lessons that develop mathematical understanding, independence, confidence, and positive learning habits. The role contributes to student achievement, curriculum delivery, classroom organisation, parent communication, safeguarding practice, and the wider purpose of empowering the next generation through high-quality education in Abu Dhabi.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver inspiring Mathematics lessons that support strong student progress and positive learning outcomes.
* Plan, prepare, and present sessions aligned with the England National Curriculum and student learning needs.
* Organise classroom provision, learning resources, and displays to create an engaging mathematics environment.
* Support students in developing numeracy, calculation fluency, reasoning, problem-solving, and confidence.
* Use enthusiastic and imaginative teaching methods to motivate pupils and encourage active participation.
* Work alongside fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons and maintain curriculum consistency.
* Observe and assess students in line with school assessment expectations.
* Use Target Tracker and assessment data to guide planning, intervention, and progress improvement.
* Take responsibility for the progress, wellbeing, and daily classroom experience of assigned students.
* Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, colleagues, curriculum support staff, and the wider school community.
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers about student achievement, progress, and wellbeing.
* Support EAL students and learners with varied needs through clear instruction and differentiated classroom practice.
* Liaise with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and other professionals when required.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and use appropriate strategies to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
* Promote self-control, independence, respect, resilience, and positive learning attitudes.
* Work as part of curriculum action groups, supporting planning, assessment, resources, and special events.
* Support school outings, weekend or evening activities, wider school events, and community initiatives when required.
* Run a weekly extra-curricular activity each term.
* Use CPOMS or relevant school systems where appropriate to support safeguarding and communication.
* Maintain strong safeguarding, child protection, professional conduct, and school policy compliance at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education with a mandatory post-teaching qualification such as PGCE.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience.
* Mandatory experience teaching the England National Curriculum.
* Experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection expectations.
* Ability to teach Mathematics in a clear, engaging, and age-appropriate way.
* Strong communication skills with parents, students, colleagues, and school leaders.
* Approachable, professional, calm, knowledgeable, and able to work with a range of stakeholders.
* Passion for teaching and commitment to educating, supporting, and nurturing children.
* High level of professionalism with strong consideration for children’s wellbeing.
