Role Context
The Music Teacher - Creative Arts Education will develop students\' musical knowledge,
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver the approved music curriculum using accurate and current subject knowledge.
* Plan structured lessons that develop musical understanding, creativity and practical performance skills.
* Prepare appropriate teaching materials, instruments, recordings and digital resources for different learning styles.
* Maintain lesson plans, curriculum records, annual plans, attendance information and assessment schedules.
* Follow GEMS Education policies, procedures, safeguarding requirements and professional codes of conduct.
* Adapt teaching strategies for late-entering students, English language learners, students with lower academic attainment and gifted learners.
* Set, mark and assess classwork, practical exercises, performances and music projects.
* Record and report students\' academic development, attainment and progress accurately.
* Use assessment findings to adjust lesson content and provide targeted learning support.
* Integrate media, audio equipment, presentation tools and educational technology into classroom instruction.
* Encourage student participation in individual and group musical activities.
* Promote student well-being and provide guidance on academic and educational matters.
* Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum resources, courses of study and pastoral arrangements.
* Contribute to co-curricular and extracurricular music programmes and lead activities when appropriate.
* Prepare students for concerts, assemblies, competitions, school productions and cultural events.
* Support the planning and delivery of inter-house activities, prize ceremonies and school functions.
* Maintain a safe, organised and positive learning environment.
* Apply effective behaviour management strategies that encourage self-discipline and respectful conduct.
* Promote cultural awareness through exposure to varied musical traditions and styles.
* Build constructive relationships with students, parents, colleagues and school leaders.
* Meet parents regularly and provide confidential updates on student progress.
* Communicate with Ministry of Education officials and other external stakeholders when required.
* Participate in appraisal, performance management and Continuing Professional Development activities.
* Attend staff meetings and contribute to committees when requested.
* Support school programmes that require additional commitment beyond normal working hours.
* Complete other reasonable duties assigned by direct or dotted-line managers and supervisors.
Ideal Profile
* Minimum bachelor\'s degree in music.
* Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
* At least 3 years of proven teaching experience.
* Strong knowledge of music theory, practical performance and curriculum delivery.
* Ability to teach students with varied academic abilities and learning requirements.
* Excellent classroom management and student engagement skills.
* Strong written and spoken communication abilities.
* Capacity to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
* Confidence using instruments, music software, audiovisual equipment and educational technology.
* Experience organising or supporting concerts, performances and extracurricular activities.
* Ability to assess practical and academic work accurately.
* Commitment to inclusive education, student welfare and cultural awareness.
* Organised approach to lesson planning, assessment records and teaching resources.
