Role Context
The Music Teacher - GCSE and A Level will join GEMS Founders School, Dubai and help students develop musical knowledge, performance confidence, creative expression, listening skills, composition ability, and appreciation of different musical styles. The role combines classroom teaching with wider school contribution, including performances, ensembles, events, extra-curricular activities, and community initiatives. The successful teacher will support a culture where students are encouraged to grow, flourish, and succeed through meaningful musical learning.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging Music lessons for GCSE and A Level students.
* Teach performance, composition, listening, music theory, analysis, and creative music-making through structured and inspiring lessons.
* Support students in developing confidence with instruments, voice, ensemble work, digital music tools, and performance preparation.
* Prepare learners for coursework, practical assessments, written examinations, and performance-based evaluation.
* Use creative teaching methods to encourage musical curiosity, confidence, collaboration, and artistic expression.
* Monitor student progress through practical work, written tasks, assessment data, listening activities, and performance outcomes.
* Provide constructive feedback that helps students improve technique, interpretation, composition, and musical understanding.
* Differentiate lessons to support students with varied musical backgrounds, abilities, confidence levels, and learning needs.
* Maintain a positive classroom and rehearsal environment where students feel motivated to participate and perform.
* Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen curriculum planning, assessment practice, resources, and cross-curricular learning opportunities.
* Lead or support concerts, performances, assemblies, school productions, choirs, bands, ensembles, and music enrichment activities.
* Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders regarding progress, expectations, and support needs.
* Engage in professional development through GEMS training pathways, BSO-linked programmes, and reflective teaching practice.
* Role model the school values of Grow, Flourish, and Succeed through teaching, teamwork, and school community involvement.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor of Education or Bachelor\'s degree in Music with PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent teaching qualification.
* Proven experience teaching Music to GCSE and A Level.
* Strong subject knowledge across performance, composition, listening, theory, and music analysis.
* Ability to inspire students through practical music-making, creativity, and high-quality classroom teaching.
* Exemplary teaching practice with a clear passion for continuous improvement.
* Creative and enthusiastic approach to both classroom learning and wider school life.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with colleagues, students, and parents.
* Strong classroom management skills with the ability to build a respectful and engaging learning environment.
