Role Context

The Nursery Nurse - Child Health Care plays a central role in protecting children’s wellbeing across the nursery by delivering prompt medical support, maintaining accurate health records, monitoring allergies and medical needs, and ensuring the clinic remains fully compliant and well prepared. The position requires careful coordination with the Headmistress, teachers, administration staff, parents, doctors, and teaching assistants to create a safe, hygienic, confidential, and reassuring environment for young children.

Key Responsibilities

* Ensure strict compliance with hygiene, health, and safety requirements in line with MOE, KHDA, Municipality, and DHA guidelines.
* Stay updated on new legislation, nursery health requirements, and regulatory changes related to child care, nursing, and early years education.
* Follow the nursery’s accident and incident policy at all times and immediately raise concerns or serious matters with the Headmistress.
* Provide safe, calm, quick, and professional emergency treatment to children or adults within the nursery setting.
* Reassure children during treatment and provide appropriate comfort and support after medical care is given.
* Assess children’s health needs accurately and maintain clear records of observations, incidents, treatment, and follow-up requirements.
* Keep updated records for children with medical conditions, allergies, medication needs, or special health considerations.
* Share relevant medical information with teaching staff, administration staff, and the Headmistress while maintaining confidentiality.
* Ensure every class has updated child medical information available in the required file and displayed appropriately for support staff awareness.
* Treat wounds and minor injuries according to nursery procedures, DHA standards, and accepted nursing practice.
* Prepare and maintain the clinic and nursing station, ensuring medical supplies, first-aid materials, and stock levels meet regulatory expectations.
* Monitor and administer medication only with proper parental consent and in line with nursery policy.
* Maintain accurate clinic records covering incidents, treatments, medicine administration, doctor visits, and child health updates.
* Support doctor visits and ensure all required documents, child records, clinic arrangements, and follow-up notes meet Municipality, DHA, MOE, and KHDA guidelines.
* Communicate child treatment updates or medical concerns to parents after discussion with the Headmistress.
* Maintain and update all children’s medical records according to Municipality, MOE, KHDA, and DHA requirements.
* Build professional relationships with colleagues and contribute positively to the continuous improvement of nursery health and safety practices.
* Cooperate with teachers, teaching assistants, administration teams, and management to maintain safe routines and strong child welfare standards.
* Help children become familiar and comfortable with the nursery clinic through gentle communication and child-friendly support.
* Maintain strict confidentiality inside and outside the nursery regarding child records, parent information, staff matters, and medical issues.
* Support the ethos, standards, and child-centered values of Emirates British Nursery.
* Line manage teaching assistants where assigned and ensure clear communication around hygiene, cleaning, and safety expectations.
* Organize cleaning rotas for teaching assistants and work with nursery teams to maintain high hygiene standards across the premises.
* Work collaboratively as part of the wider nursery team and support additional duties requested by management.

Ideal Profile

* Degree or Diploma in Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
* Nursing Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Board or Nursing Council from the candidate’s country of origin.
* Valid Dubai Health Authority license is required.
* Experience working as a nurse in a nursery, school, pediatric clinic, hospital, or child care environment is preferred.
* Strong understanding of DHA, KHDA, MOE, Municipality, health, hygiene, child safety, and nursery clinic requirements.
* Confident in handling minor injuries, emergency treatment, medication administration, accident reporting, and child health documentation.
* Able to maintain accurate allergy records, medical care plans, clinic logs, and confidential health information.
* Calm, caring, and reassuring approach when supporting young children during illness, injury, or medical treatment.
* Strong communication skills for working with parents, teachers, administration staff, doctors, teaching assistants, and nursery management.
* Good organizational ability to manage clinic supplies, stock control, medical files, cleaning rotas, and regulatory documentation.
* Professional judgment with the ability to escalate concerns quickly and appropriately to the Headmistress or management.
* Team-focused attitude with a commitment to safe nursery operations, child wellbeing, and continuous improvement.
