Role Context
The Physical Education Teacher will plan, deliver, and assess PE lessons that support physical development, student confidence, teamwork, safety awareness, and lifelong interest in fitness and sport. The role contributes to student progress, behaviour development, extra-curricular activity, parent communication, and the school’s wider mission to provide high-quality learning opportunities in a positive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver Physical Education lessons that inspire students and support strong learning outcomes.
* Plan, prepare, and present PE sessions that meet curriculum requirements and suit different ability levels.
* Organise sports resources, equipment, learning spaces, and displays to create a safe and engaging environment.
* Support students in developing movement skills, coordination, teamwork, confidence, fitness, and sportsmanship.
* Use enthusiastic and inclusive teaching strategies to motivate pupils and encourage active participation.
* Work alongside fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons and support curriculum consistency.
* Observe and assess student progress in line with school assessment expectations.
* Use Target Tracker and assessment data to guide planning, intervention, and student development.
* Take responsibility for student progress, wellbeing, safety, and participation during PE lessons.
* Build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, curriculum support staff, and the wider school community.
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student achievement, progress, and wellbeing.
* Liaise with support professionals such as therapists or educational psychologists when required.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and use appropriate strategies to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
* Promote self-control, independence, respect, fair play, healthy habits, and positive attitudes toward learning.
* Embed Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes throughout PE learning and wider school activities.
* Contribute to curriculum action groups, planning, assessment, resources, and school events.
* Support outings, sports activities, community events, and extra-curricular programmes.
* Run a weekly extra-curricular activity each term.
* Use CPOMS or relevant school systems where appropriate to support safeguarding and communication processes.
* Uphold school policies, safeguarding expectations, health and safety standards, and Aldar Education professional requirements.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Education, or a related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised teacher qualification preferred.
* Teaching experience in an American curriculum, primary, charter school, or international school setting preferred.
* Clear understanding of curriculum planning, PE assessment, student development, and safe sports instruction.
* Ability to deliver inclusive PE lessons that support learners with different skills, confidence levels, and physical abilities.
* Experience supporting students for whom English is not the first language is an advantage.
* Strong communication skills with students, parents, teachers, and school leaders.
* Passion for physical education, student wellbeing, teamwork, and whole-child development.
* Reflective teaching approach with the ability to adapt planning and activities based on student progress.
* High level of professionalism with strong attention to student safety and wellbeing.
* Respectful and inclusive attitude toward all members of the school community.
