Role Context
The Physics Teacher - GCSE and A Level will join a
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver challenging Physics lessons aligned with the National Curriculum for England.
* Teach GCSE and A Level Physics using accurate, current and advanced subject knowledge.
* Explain complex scientific principles through clear demonstrations, practical applications and structured problem-solving.
* Develop lesson sequences that strengthen conceptual understanding, mathematical fluency and examination performance.
* Establish ambitious learning objectives for students across different attainment levels.
* Prepare laboratory investigations, teaching resources, digital simulations and assessment materials.
* Conduct practical experiments in accordance with curriculum requirements and laboratory safety procedures.
* Differentiate instruction to support students with varied abilities, prior knowledge and learning needs.
* Assess student progress through classwork, homework, practical activities, projects and formal examinations.
* Analyse performance data to identify misconceptions, learning gaps and intervention priorities.
* Provide timely and constructive feedback that improves scientific reasoning and examination technique.
* Deliver targeted support and extension activities to help students achieve their academic potential.
* Maintain accurate records of planning, assessment outcomes, interventions and student progress.
* Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE and A Level Physics examinations.
* Encourage independent enquiry, critical thinking and evidence-based scientific analysis.
* Use educational technology, simulations and digital learning platforms to enhance classroom instruction.
* Promote interest in engineering, technology, astronomy and other physics-related pathways.
* Create an inclusive and intellectually stimulating learning environment.
* Collaborate with science colleagues on curriculum planning, resource development and departmental improvement.

Ideal Profile
* Bachelor of Education or a relevant degree supported by PGCE, PGDE or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
* Minimum 2 years of experience teaching the National Curriculum for England.
* Exceptional knowledge of Physics and its practical applications.
* Proven record of delivering outstanding learning and teaching.
* Experience teaching GCSE Physics within a secondary school environment.
* Ability to deliver A Level Physics to a high academic standard.
* Strong understanding of examination specifications, assessment objectives and grading criteria.
* Confidence teaching the mathematical components of secondary Physics.
* Ability to design and supervise safe, purposeful laboratory investigations.
* Belief that students from different starting points can achieve excellent outcomes.
* Strong classroom management and student engagement capabilities.
* Experience using assessment evidence to improve attainment and progress.
* Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
* Ability to establish productive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
* Organised approach to lesson preparation, laboratory work, assessment and reporting.
* Enthusiasm for contributing to enrichment activities and the wider school community.
