Key Responsibilities
* Teach Psychology and Sociology lessons that build strong subject knowledge, analytical ability, research awareness, and confident written communication.
* Deliver GCSE and A-Level teaching aligned with the National Curriculum for England and examination requirements.
* Plan engaging lessons that help students understand psychological theories, sociological concepts, human behaviour, social structures, and evidence-based arguments.
* Support students in developing exam technique, essay writing, evaluation skills, source interpretation, and independent study habits.
* Use assessment data, marking, feedback, and classroom observation to monitor progress and provide targeted intervention.
* Maintain high academic expectations and encourage every student to aim for strong performance.
* Contribute to an enriched curriculum through activities, discussions, wider reading, debates, and real-world learning links.
* Work collaboratively with department colleagues to strengthen curriculum planning, assessment quality, and teaching resources.
* Build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff to support academic growth, wellbeing, and confidence.
* Promote a classroom culture that values curiosity, respect, evidence, reflection, and thoughtful discussion.
Ideal Profile
* B.Ed, degree with PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
* Strong subject knowledge in Psychology, Sociology, or a closely related social sciences field.
* Minimum 2 years of experience teaching the National Curriculum for England.
* Experience teaching GCSE and A-Level Psychology and/or Sociology.
* Proven track record of outstanding learning and teaching in a school environment.
* Ability to motivate students and support high achievement across different ability levels.
* Strong planning, assessment, communication, and classroom management skills.
* Passion for helping students understand human behaviour, society, research, identity, culture, and social change.
* Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, professional development, and active contribution to school life.
