Role Context
The Rotating Equipment Engineer - Maintenance will support production and maintenance teams by ensuring major rotating equipment is maintained with strong technical discipline, reliable planning, and effective use of internal teams, vendors, OEMs, and external service providers. The role combines performance evaluation, overhaul planning, root cause analysis, spare parts control, repair scope preparation, technical troubleshooting, plant change management, and project interface support. By keeping equipment history updated and applying reliability-focused maintenance practices, the position helps reduce trips, improve asset availability, and protect plant production performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, supervise, and coordinate major rotating equipment maintenance activities to ensure plant availability, reliability, and safe operations.
* Provide technical decision support to production and maintenance teams during equipment testing, troubleshooting, routine surveillance, start-up activities, and operator training.
* Develop long-range overhaul plans for rotating machinery based on performance evaluations, operating history, running hours, reliability trends, and plant requirements.
* Work with production teams to maintain the integrity, reliability, and sustainability of mechanical assets linked to rotating equipment.
* Assist the Senior Rotating Engineer with scheduling, budget estimates, section planning, technical reporting, and related maintenance activities.
* Review required spare parts, tools, manpower, vendor support, OEM inputs, and other resources needed to complete maintenance jobs as planned.
* Ensure spare parts availability and material readiness to minimize equipment downtime during planned repairs, overhauls, and urgent maintenance activities.
* Lead or support root cause analysis investigations, solution development, and risk assessments to reduce equipment trips and improve plant reliability.
* Prepare scopes of work for OEMs and service providers covering refurbishment, repair, overhaul, and technical support for major rotating equipment and repairable parts.
* Follow up repair and refurbishment activities, including budgeting, service work orders, progress tracking, inspection, receiving, and technical closeout.
* Supervise major overhauls and ensure activities are completed safely, on schedule, and in line with approved technical requirements.
* Provide technical support to area maintenance and operations teams for chronic rotating equipment problems, troubleshooting, and solution development.
* Investigate recurring failures and identify practical improvement measures requiring deeper technical analysis or engineering support.
* Maintain updated history records for major rotating equipment and critical parts to support replacement planning, failure analysis, and lifecycle decisions.
* Manage tracking databases for aged parts, major repairs, equipment condition, overhaul history, and reliability improvement actions.
* Coordinate with technical engineering divisions to raise requests for technical services related to major rotating equipment.
* Agree on technical scopes of work, review technical service recommendations, and support implementation of approved engineering actions.
* Follow up permanent and temporary plant change requests related to rotating equipment from initiation and pre-FEED through FEED, execution, and post-close stages.
* Coordinate with project teams to review rotating equipment documents for new projects, retrofits, modifications, service bulletins, and plant expansions.
* Support project reviews from pre-FEED stage through project completion to ensure rotating equipment reliability, maintainability, and operational readiness.
* Maintain regular contact with local and international vendors, OEMs, and third-party service providers to obtain technical services and repair support.
* Prepare performance analysis reports to identify improvement prospects for strategic business planning and reliability enhancement.
* Apply sound planning, organizing, scheduling, coordination, checking, examining, and recording practices across all rotating equipment maintenance activities.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
* Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in operations and maintenance of rotating equipment within a large industrial organization.
* Experience in the Oil and Energy sector or oil and gas production environment is preferred.
* Strong understanding of rotating equipment maintenance, reliability practices, performance analysis, overhaul planning, and plant production standards.
* Good understanding of oil and gas production performance, business planning, performance measurement, economic analysis, and maintenance cost control.
* Practical experience with major rotating machinery troubleshooting, equipment surveillance, start-up support, failure analysis, and reliability improvement.
* Able to prepare scopes of work, service work orders, repair follow-ups, technical reports, overhaul plans, and equipment history records.
* Experience coordinating with OEMs, vendors, third-party service providers, production teams, maintenance teams, engineering teams, and project teams.
* Strong knowledge of spare parts planning, material readiness, repairable parts tracking, refurbishment processes, and equipment downtime reduction.
* Familiarity with root cause analysis, risk assessments, plant change management, retrofit reviews, service bulletins, and project modification support.
* Ability to review technical documents for new projects, modifications, expansions, and rotating equipment upgrades.
* Strong capability in planning, scheduling, coordination, checking, examining, recording, and reporting maintenance activities.
* Good awareness of business risks and controls for plant production within the oil and gas sector.
* Proficient in preparing production performance analysis reports and identifying opportunities for strategic improvement.
* Proactive and analytical approach with the ability to solve chronic equipment problems and support safe, cost-effective maintenance execution.
