Job Overview
The School Counselor will provide comprehensive student support services, including academic guidance, personal counseling, and social-emotional development programs. Working closely with students, teachers, and parents, the counselor will help create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes wellbeing and academic success.
Key Responsibilities
* Offer one-on-one and group
counseling sessions to students facing academic, emotional, or behavioral challenges
* Establish systems for monitoring and supporting students’ psychological and emotional development
* Collaborate with school leadership and teachers to integrate personal and social development activities into school life
* Assist new students in transitioning smoothly into the school environment
* Develop and implement anti-bullying initiatives and intervention frameworks
* Maintain detailed, confidential records of student progress and counseling sessions
* Liaise with external professionals and agencies when specialized support is needed
* Support the design and delivery of workshops or awareness programs for students, staff, and parents
* Participate in staff meetings, school events, and strategic planning for student welfare
* Uphold all GEMS Education policies and codes of conduct
Job Requirements
* Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Counseling or Psychology
* Experience in school counseling or working with children and adolescents in an academic setting
* Knowledge of counseling techniques, mental health practices, and ethical standards
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Empathetic, patient, and professional approach when managing sensitive issues
* Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work collaboratively in a team
* Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity
