Role Context
The School Counselor plays a critical role in supporting students’ academic achievement, emotional wellbeing, and personal growth within a safe and inclusive school environment. This position works closely with students, parents, teachers, and school leadership to provide guidance, interventions, and developmental counseling that help students become confident, responsible, and well-adjusted individuals.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program focused on student success, wellbeing, and career readiness.
Support students through individual and group counseling sessions addressing academic, emotional, behavioral, and social development needs.
Promote equitable access to learning opportunities and encourage student participation across all academic programs.
Respond to the diversity and individual differences of students with inclusive and supportive counseling approaches.
Evaluate student strengths and challenges while advocating for their academic and personal development.
Provide structured responsive services and intervention plans for students requiring additional support.
Collaborate with parents, teachers, community organizations, and stakeholders to improve student outcomes.
Perform psychological assessments, interpret tests, and review student academic and behavioral records.
Gather and analyze student data to measure counseling program effectiveness and student progress.
Prepare regular reports, documentation, and recommendations related to counseling services and student development.
Support school wellbeing initiatives, student safeguarding, and positive campus culture.
Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards in all counseling activities.
Ideal Profile
Master’s degree in Psychology or School Counseling is required.
Proven working experience in school counseling is mandatory.
Strong understanding of counseling models, practices, and student support resources.
Ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse student population.
Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong advocacy skills and commitment to student wellbeing.
Ability to collect, interpret, and analyze student data effectively.
Computer literacy and confidence in reporting and documentation.
High emotional intelligence, sound judgement, and professional integrity.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multicultural educational environment.
