Role Context
The Secondary EAL Teacher plays a critical role in supporting students with English as an additional language, ensuring they develop the linguistic skills required for academic achievement. This role contributes to improved student outcomes by delivering targeted language instruction and supporting inclusive learning practices across subjects.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver structured EAL lessons tailored to varying language proficiency levels
* Prepare students for external assessments including IELTS Academic and EAL or ESL examinations
* Develop Individual Language Plans to address specific student needs
* Monitor progress and conduct regular review sessions with parents and stakeholders
* Support students across subjects to ensure full curriculum access
* Assess and record student performance to maintain high academic standards
* Create inclusive classroom environments that promote confidence and engagement
* Contribute to school activities, events, and professional development initiatives
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, Linguistics, or related field
* Recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, preferably with EAL focus
* Minimum two years of experience teaching EAL learners
* Experience preparing students for IELTS and related language qualifications
* Strong understanding of differentiated and inclusive teaching strategies
* Experience in British curriculum schools is advantageous
* Commitment to student success and continuous improvement
