Role Context
The Social Studies Head of Department leads curriculum planning, academic supervision, and teacher development for the secondary section. This role works closely with school leadership and teaching teams to strengthen classroom performance, improve pedagogy, and ensure high academic standards across the department while supporting overall school success.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Social Studies department across the secondary section with strong academic planning and subject leadership.
Work directly with teachers to improve teaching methods, subject knowledge, and classroom pedagogy for better student outcomes.
Support curriculum design, lesson planning, and assessment strategies aligned with CBSE standards and UAE educational requirements.
Monitor teaching quality and ensure lessons consistently meet the standard of good and outstanding classroom practice.
Collaborate with senior leaders to improve academic standards and support whole-school improvement plans.
Review student performance data and implement strategies to raise achievement and progress across all grade levels.
Conduct classroom observations, mentoring sessions, and performance feedback for teaching staff.
Ensure departmental compliance with school policies, KHDA expectations, and UAE teaching frameworks.
Support examination preparation, academic reporting, and curriculum documentation.
Participate in parent meetings, staff development sessions, and leadership discussions related to departmental success.
Contribute actively to school planning, inspections, and continuous professional development initiatives.
Ideal Profile
Master’s or Bachelor of Education in Social Studies is required.
M.A or B.A in Humanities or Social Studies is accepted.
Distance learning or open university degrees are not accepted.
Strong subject knowledge in Social Studies and curriculum leadership experience is essential.
Previous UAE school experience in a similar HOD or coordinator role is required.
Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal.
Strong leadership, mentoring, and team management abilities.
Good understanding of UAE teaching frameworks and educational compliance standards.
Candidates must be available in the UAE for interview and immediate joining.
