Role Context
The Swim Instructor will lead swimming lessons, water safety training, extra-curricular swimming programmes, and school swimming events while ensuring constant supervision and risk control around the pool. The role supports student wellbeing, physical development, confidence in water, competition readiness, and safe use of school swimming facilities through structured instruction, clear communication, and professional coordination with teachers, assistants, parents, and school leaders.
Key Responsibilities
* Teach swimming lessons to students across the school, focusing on skill development, confidence, fitness, and water safety.
* Plan and deliver structured swimming sessions tailored to different ages, abilities, and learning needs.
* Maintain constant supervision of children in and around the pool to ensure safety at all times.
* Enforce pool rules, safe swimming behaviour, and emergency procedures during all lessons and activities.
* Supervise and guide the swimming assistant to support smooth lesson delivery and effective poolside management.
* Coach students in swimming techniques, competition preparation, discipline, goal-setting, and sportsmanship.
* Monitor student progress and provide clear feedback to students, parents, teachers, and school management.
* Organise and participate in swimming galas, competitions, sports events, and wider school activities.
* Lead extra-curricular swimming programmes that support student interest, fitness, and progression.
* Coordinate with class teachers and classroom assistants regarding student care before, during, and after lessons.
* Ensure a staff member is always present and actively monitoring students in the water during lessons.
* Manage swimming event logistics, equipment preparation, team participation, and safety arrangements.
* Maintain professional communication with students, assistants, teachers, parents, and school staff.
* Liaise with external organisations such as competition organisers, swimming federations, and health and safety authorities when required.
* Promote school swimming programmes, health initiatives, galas, and student participation within the wider community.
* Support safeguarding expectations, professional conduct, school policies, and Aldar Education standards at all times.
Ideal Profile
* UAE approved Swimming Coach Certificate required.
* First Aid Certificate and CPR knowledge required.
* Qualified to teach swimming and able to support learners of different ages and abilities.
* Qualified lifeguard with strong awareness of pool safety and emergency response.
* Experience teaching swimming techniques, water safety, fitness, and confidence-building in a school or youth setting.
* Knowledge of pool operations, risk management, Normal Operating Procedures, and Emergency Operating Procedures.
* Ability to plan, deliver, assess, and improve structured swimming lessons and training programmes.
* Confidence in organising swimming competitions, galas, extra-curricular activities, and sports events.
* Strong supervision skills with the ability to maintain safety in busy pool environments.
* Ability to mentor assistants and coordinate effectively with teachers, parents, and school staff.
* Professional, calm, reliable, and safety-focused approach to working with children.
* Understanding and appreciation of regional values and school community expectations.
* Police clearance, satisfactory references, and safeguarding checks required for appointment.
