Role Context
The Teacher - Curriculum and Student Development will support academic
achievement and student well-being through structured lesson delivery, accurate assessment and inclusive classroom practice. The role requires close coordination with colleagues, parents and school leadership while maintaining curriculum records, supervising students and contributing to examinations, school events and administrative activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver the approved curriculum using accurate and current subject knowledge.
* Plan and teach well-structured lessons that motivate students and promote consistent academic progress.
* Prepare suitable learning materials and adapt the classroom environment for different learning styles.
* Maintain written evidence of lesson planning, curriculum maps, annual plans, attendance, teaching resources and assessment schedules.
* Apply GEMS Education policies, procedures, professional standards and codes of conduct.
* Use appropriate teaching strategies for late-entering students, English language learners, students with lower academic attainment and gifted learners.
* Set, mark and evaluate classwork, homework, projects and formal assessments.
* Record and report student attainment, development and academic progress accurately.
* Use assessment evidence to adjust lesson delivery and respond to individual student needs.
* Integrate suitable media, digital tools and classroom technology into teaching.
* Promote student well-being and provide guidance on academic and educational matters.
* Communicate with education authorities and external stakeholders when required.
* Participate in appraisal, performance management and Continuing Professional Development activities.
* Collaborate with colleagues on teaching materials, curriculum resources, courses of study and pastoral arrangements.
* Contribute to co-curricular and extracurricular programmes and lead activities when appropriate.
* Share ideas, resources and teaching experiences to strengthen departmental practice.
* Monitor student behaviour and maintain a safe, respectful and productive classroom environment.
* Apply suitable strategies to encourage self-discipline and manage disruptive behaviour.
