Role Context
The Teacher
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver inspiring ICT lessons that help students achieve strong learning outcomes and develop confidence with digital tools and technology concepts.
* Plan, prepare, and present lessons that meet the needs of students across the full ability range within the class.
* Demonstrate a clear understanding of the curriculum and translate learning objectives into engaging classroom activities.
* Create an organized and stimulating classroom environment with appropriate resources, displays, and digital learning materials.
* Motivate students through enthusiastic, imaginative, and practical teaching approaches that make ICT accessible and relevant.
* Observe, assess, and record student progress in line with school assessment expectations.
* Use assessment data to inform future planning, classroom provision, differentiation, and targeted intervention.
* Reflect on lesson delivery, classroom setup, student progress, and curriculum coverage, making adjustments where needed to improve learning.
* Manage classes effectively using approaches that inspire, motivate, challenge, and support students with different learning needs.
* Maintain positive relationships with students while applying the school’s behaviour policy fairly and consistently.
* Act as a positive role model by demonstrating the values, attitudes, conduct, and professionalism expected within the school community.
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers about student achievement, wellbeing, progress, and areas for development.
* Use school systems and processes, including CPOMS where appropriate, to support safeguarding, wellbeing, and student communication.
* Work with professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists when additional student support is required.
* Contribute to curriculum action groups by supporting planning, assessment, resources, special events, and subject development.
* Support school events, outings, activities, and enrichment opportunities, including those that may take place during evenings or weekends.
* Run one weekly extracurricular activity each term, helping students explore interests beyond the regular timetable.
* Make a positive contribution to the wider life, values, and ethos of the school.
* Support students for whom English is not a first language by using clear instruction, visual support, and inclusive teaching strategies.
* Maintain safeguarding awareness and uphold child protection expectations in all classroom and school interactions.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in ICT, Computer Science, Education Technology, or a closely related subject.
* PGCE, QTS, B.Ed., or another recognized teaching qualification is required.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience.
* Previous experience teaching students for whom English is not their first language is valuable.
* Strong passion for teaching ICT and a clear commitment to educating the whole child.
* Confident understanding of curriculum planning, classroom assessment, differentiation, and student progress tracking.
* Ability to deliver creative, practical, and student-centred technology lessons.
* Strong classroom management skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and challenge learners.
* Professional attitude with careful consideration for the wellbeing, safety, and development of children.
* Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities is expected.
* Respectful approach toward all members of the school community, regardless of position, gender, age, or background.
* Positive and solution-focused attitude to school life, teamwork, and professional responsibilities.
* Strong communication skills for working with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders.
* Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police clearance is required.
