Role Context
The Teacher - Physical Education will support the delivery of high-quality PE provision within a growing school environment, helping students develop physical confidence, teamwork, resilience, discipline, and lifelong fitness habits. The role requires strong classroom and practical lesson management, safe use of sports facilities, inclusive teaching strategies, and the ability to adapt activities for different ages, abilities, and learning needs. As the school expands its year groups, the teacher will also contribute to sports development, school events, student participation, and a positive culture of achievement.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging Physical Education lessons that support student progress, participation, fitness, skill development, and enjoyment of sport.
* Teach PE across relevant year groups, using age-appropriate activities that promote coordination, movement, teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence.
* Support the delivery of a broad and balanced PE curriculum aligned with British curriculum expectations and the school’s learning standards.
* Create an inclusive learning environment where students of different abilities feel encouraged, safe, respected, and motivated to participate.
* Assess student progress in physical education and use evidence from lessons, practical performance, and participation to guide improvement.
* Maintain high expectations for behaviour, safety, effort, kit standards, punctuality, and student engagement during indoor and outdoor PE sessions.
* Promote healthy lifestyles, wellbeing, personal fitness, resilience, and positive attitudes toward physical activity across the school community.
* Organize equipment, resources, spaces, and lesson routines to ensure practical sessions run safely and efficiently.
* Support extracurricular sports, enrichment activities, school competitions, fixtures, sports days, and community events where required.
* Work collaboratively with teaching colleagues, phase leaders, pastoral staff, and school leadership to support student development.
* Communicate professionally with parents when needed regarding student progress, participation, behaviour, or wellbeing in PE.
* Apply safeguarding procedures, health and safety expectations, and risk management practices during all physical education activities.
* Differentiate activities for students with varying abilities, confidence levels, learning needs, and physical development stages.
* Encourage leadership, teamwork, fair play, respect, and confidence through individual and group sporting activities.
* Support the school’s wider ethos by contributing to assemblies, enrichment programmes, cross-curricular initiatives, and student wellbeing activities.
* Maintain accurate teaching records, assessment information, attendance notes, and curriculum documentation as required.
* Participate in professional development, coaching, training, and school improvement activities to strengthen teaching practice.
* Contribute positively to the growth of the PE department as the school expands its provision toward higher year groups.
Ideal Profile
* Female teacher required due to operational requirements.
* Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Education, or a closely related field.
* Recognized teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, B.Ed., or equivalent.
* Experience teaching Physical Education in a school environment.
* Strong understanding of British curriculum PE expectations is highly desirable.
* Experience teaching primary, upper primary, or lower secondary students is valuable.
* Ability to plan practical, safe, active, and differentiated PE lessons for mixed-ability groups.
* Strong classroom and behaviour management skills in sports halls, outdoor fields, courts, and practical learning spaces.
* Confident communication skills with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders.
* Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, inclusion, and respectful school culture.
* Positive, energetic, and motivational teaching style with a genuine passion for sport and physical development.
* Ability to support fixtures, sports events, extracurricular clubs, and wider school activities.
* Experience in an international school or UAE education setting is an advantage.
* Knowledge of ADEK expectations, school inspection standards, or British school quality frameworks is beneficial.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage equipment, lesson planning, assessment records, and event support.
