Role Context
The Teacher - Physical Education will support the delivery of high-quality PE learning at Noya British School, helping students develop physical skills, personal discipline, confidence, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude toward wellbeing. The role requires thoughtful lesson planning, strong practical classroom management, effective assessment, and the ability to adapt teaching for students across different ability levels. Working within the Aldar Education school network, the teacher will also contribute to a learning culture that values achievement, inclusion, behaviour, safety, and whole-child development.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging Physical Education lessons that inspire students to participate, improve, and achieve strong learning outcomes.
* Demonstrate a clear understanding of the curriculum and translate learning objectives into practical, age-appropriate PE activities.
* Plan, prepare, and present lessons that meet the needs of the full ability range within the class.
* Organize learning resources, sports equipment, practical spaces, and classroom displays to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
* Motivate students through enthusiastic, imaginative, and active teaching methods that encourage effort, teamwork, and enjoyment of sport.
* Observe, assess, and record student progress in line with school assessment procedures.
* Meet requirements for assessment and recording of student development using Target Tracker and other approved school systems.
* Use assessment data to guide future planning, classroom provision, differentiation, and targeted intervention.
* Reflect on lesson delivery, student progress, practical routines, and curriculum coverage, making adjustments to improve learning impact.
* Maintain positive relationships with pupils while applying appropriate authority and acting decisively when needed under the school behaviour policy.
* Serve as a positive role model by consistently demonstrating the attitudes, values, conduct, and behaviour expected from students.
* Create a safe and inclusive PE environment where students feel confident to participate and challenge themselves.
* Support students in developing physical fitness, coordination, teamwork, communication, resilience, and self-discipline.
* Differentiate activities to support varied physical abilities, confidence levels, learning needs, and prior attainment.
* Promote healthy lifestyles, wellbeing, fair play, respect, and positive competition across PE lessons and school activities.
* Maintain high expectations for punctuality, behaviour, safety, participation, kit standards, and quality of effort.
* Communicate professionally with colleagues and parents when required regarding student progress, participation, behaviour, or wellbeing.
* Contribute to the wider school community through sports activities, enrichment opportunities, school events, and extracurricular involvement.
* Work collaboratively with teaching teams, curriculum colleagues, support staff, and school leaders to strengthen student outcomes.
* Follow safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, risk assessment, and safe working procedures during all PE activities.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Education, or a closely related subject.
* PGCE, QTS, B.Ed., or another recognized teaching qualification is preferred.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience is preferred.
* Experience teaching PE within a British curriculum school environment is highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of curriculum planning, assessment, differentiation, and student progress tracking.
* Ability to deliver safe, active, inclusive, and well-paced PE lessons for mixed-ability learners.
* Confident behaviour management skills in indoor and outdoor practical learning spaces.
* Experience using Target Tracker or similar student assessment systems is an advantage.
* Passion for teaching and a strong commitment to educating the whole child.
* Positive, energetic, and solution-focused approach to school life and professional responsibilities.
* Strong communication skills for working with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders.
* Ability to reflect on teaching practice and adjust planning based on student needs and assessment evidence.
