Role Context
The Teacher - Primary Education will be responsible for delivering engaging classroom learning that helps students achieve strong academic, social, and personal outcomes. The role requires thoughtful planning, effective classroom organization, regular assessment, positive behaviour management, and close collaboration with colleagues, parents, and support professionals. By embedding strong teacher and learner attitudes across the curriculum, the teacher will help create a learning environment where students feel motivated, supported, challenged, and confident.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver lessons that inspire students to succeed and achieve the best possible learning outcomes.
* Plan, prepare, and present classroom sessions that meet curriculum requirements and support the full ability range within the class.
* Create a positive and engaging classroom environment through well-organized learning resources, displays, and purposeful classroom provision.
* Motivate pupils through enthusiastic, imaginative, and age-appropriate teaching methods.
* Work alongside fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons, share resources, and support curriculum consistency.
* Build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and all members of the school community.
* Liaise flexibly with colleagues and curriculum support staff to support student learning and development.
* Work with parents to support children’s happiness, wellbeing, academic progress, and personal growth.
* Observe and assess students in line with school assessment expectations.
* Take responsibility for class progress by using assessment outcomes to guide planning, provision, and intervention.
* Record student development using Target Tracker and other school-approved systems.
* Provide constructive feedback to parents and carers during Parent Teacher Conferences and other school meetings.
* Reflect on classroom provision, sessions taught, progress made, and student needs, then adjust planning and learning environments accordingly.
* Meet with professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists when required.
* Ensure Teacher and Learner DNA language, expectations, and attitudes are embedded throughout the curriculum.
* Follow the school behaviour policy and manage classes using approaches appropriate to students’ needs.
* Maintain strong relationships with pupils while exercising appropriate authority and acting decisively when needed.
* Model positive attitudes, values, and behaviour expected from students.
* Maintain high expectations for behaviour while promoting self-control, independence, respect, and responsibility.
* Work as part of a curriculum action group, supporting planning, assessment, resources, and special events.
* Support school events, outings, activities, and wider community initiatives, including events outside normal school hours when required.
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student achievement and wellbeing using school systems such as CPOMS where appropriate.
* Make a positive contribution to the wider life, values, and ethos of the school.
* Run a weekly extracurricular activity each term.
* Follow safeguarding expectations and support the welfare of children and young people at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE or another recognized teaching qualification.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience.
* Previous experience working with students for whom English is not the first language.
* Strong understanding of curriculum delivery, classroom assessment, and differentiated learning.
* Passion for teaching and clear commitment to educating the whole child.
* High level of professionalism with genuine consideration for children’s wellbeing.
* Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities.
* Respect for all members of the school community regardless of position, gender, age, nationality, or background.
* Positive and solution-focused attitude toward teaching, collaboration, and school life.
* Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and support professionals.
* Strong classroom management skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and challenge learners.
* Reflective teaching approach with willingness to adapt planning and instruction to improve student outcomes.
* Ability to work cooperatively in a multicultural school setting.
* Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police clearance required.
