Role Context
The Teaching Assistant will support classroom teachers by helping students with learning activities, preparing resources, maintaining classroom organization, and assisting with child supervision. The role contributes directly to student development, classroom discipline, safeguarding standards, and the smooth daily operation of teaching and learning across the school.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the class teacher with student learning needs, classroom routines, and daily academic tasks.
* Assist in small group activities inside and outside the classroom as directed by the teacher.
* Prepare worksheets, photocopy documents, organize teaching materials, and tidy classroom resources.
* Help create, mount, and maintain classroom displays that support student engagement and learning.
* Supervise students during short teacher absences, emergency cover, planned breaks, or release time.
* Organize stock cupboards, distribute new supplies, and maintain a clean and safe classroom environment.
* Assist younger students with toilet needs, changing, and basic care when required.
* Support literacy, numeracy, phonics, and other curriculum-related classroom activities.
* Follow school policies, safeguarding procedures, confidentiality standards, and professional conduct requirements.
* Attend staff meetings, support school committees, and complete additional duties assigned by line managers or supervisors.
Ideal Profile
* High School Certificate, Bachelor’s degree in Education, or qualification in another relevant discipline.
* 3-5 years of experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar classroom support role.
* Good general education with strong ability in English and Mathematics.
* Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
* Ability to work well with children, teachers, parents, and school leadership teams.
* Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple classroom tasks.
* Calm, patient, and professional approach when working under pressure.
* Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding, and responsible student supervision.
* UK-enhanced DBS, police clearance, or equivalent background check required for appointment.
