Role Context
The Teaching Assistant - Classroom Support will help teachers deliver effective learning by supporting pupils individually and in small groups across the curriculum. The role includes preparing classroom resources, assisting with pupil activities, encouraging independence, supporting personal organization, and helping maintain a calm and engaging learning environment. By offering practical classroom assistance and positive pupil supervision, the position supports student confidence, wellbeing, academic progress, and the wider ethos of Cranleigh Abu Dhabi.
Key Responsibilities
* Support teachers in delivering classroom activities that help pupils engage with learning across the curriculum.
* Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning, build confidence, and support progress.
* Use school-approved policies, learning methods, and classroom strategies to assist pupils with phonics, mathematics, literacy, and wider subject activities.
* Help prepare learning resources, classroom materials, displays, and activity areas before and during lessons.
* Record pupil activities and support basic administrative tasks linked to classroom organization and learning evidence.
* Assist with setting up the classroom to create a positive, safe, attractive, and purposeful learning environment.
* Encourage pupil independence through questioning, modelling, prompting, and structured support.
* Help pupils develop personal organization, classroom routines, hygiene awareness, and responsible learning habits.
* Support pupil engagement by encouraging participation, focus, curiosity, and confidence during learning activities.
* Assist teachers in observing pupil responses and sharing relevant feedback that may support future planning.
* Supervise pupils during classroom activities, transitions, break periods, and other school routines when required.
* Promote positive behaviour by following school expectations and supporting respectful relationships.
* Work cooperatively with teachers, learning support staff, and school colleagues to meet pupil needs.
* Help pupils feel safe, included, valued, and motivated throughout the school day.
* Support school events, activities, and wider learning experiences when required.
* Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling pupil information and school matters.
* Follow safeguarding policies and support the welfare of children at all times.
* Contribute positively to the culture, values, and community life of Cranleigh Abu Dhabi.
Ideal Profile
* UAE National candidate.
* Relevant school, nursery, classroom support, childcare, or education support experience is preferred.
* Interest in supporting children’s learning, development, wellbeing, and confidence.
* Ability to work under the direction of teachers while showing initiative in classroom support tasks.
* Good communication skills with pupils, teachers, parents, and school staff.
* Patient, caring, organized, and respectful approach to working with children.
* Ability to support pupils with different learning styles and levels of independence.
* Understanding of classroom routines, positive behaviour support, and child-centered learning.
* Willingness to help with resources, displays, supervision, and daily classroom preparation.
