Role Context
The Whole School Arabic A Lead - Curriculum will provide strategic leadership for Arabic A across GEMS International School, Dubai Hills. The role focuses on strengthening curriculum continuity, improving classroom practice, supporting Arabic teachers, monitoring assessment data, and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across the whole school. The successful candidate will help promote Arabic language, UAE culture, national identity, and academic excellence while working closely with school leadership to deliver whole-school improvement priorities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of the Arabic A curriculum across Primary and Secondary phases.
* Support, coach, and mentor Arabic A teachers to strengthen classroom practice, lesson quality, assessment use, and student engagement.
* Monitor student progress through assessment data, moderation outcomes, classroom evidence, and performance reviews.
* Analyse achievement information to identify learning gaps, improvement priorities, and targeted intervention strategies.
* Ensure Arabic A curriculum planning and teaching practice meet KHDA requirements and UAE Ministry of Education expectations.
* Lead curriculum planning, assessment moderation, standardisation, and quality assurance processes across the Arabic department.
* Work with school leadership to align Arabic A development with whole-school improvement plans and inspection readiness.
* Build a culture of collaboration, professional learning, accountability, and excellence within the Arabic teaching team.
* Promote consistent standards in Arabic literacy, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, comprehension, and cultural understanding.
* Support teachers in designing engaging Arabic learning experiences that meet the needs of diverse learners.
* Prepare and maintain curriculum documentation, assessment records, progress evidence, department action plans, and review materials.
* Encourage Arabic language use, UAE culture, national identity, and local heritage through school initiatives, events, and enrichment activities.
* Communicate effectively with teachers, leaders, students, and parents to support student progress and department success.
* Contribute to the wider school community through leadership, professional collaboration, and active participation in school initiatives.
Ideal Profile
* Qualified teacher with relevant teaching qualifications such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent.
* Proven leadership experience within an Arabic department.
* Strong understanding of UAE Ministry of Education and KHDA requirements.
* Experience leading Arabic A curriculum development across Primary, Secondary, or whole-school phases.
* Ability to coach, mentor, and develop Arabic A teachers through professional guidance and practical support.
* Strong assessment literacy with the ability to use data for improvement planning and student achievement growth.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
* Confident leadership style with the ability to collaborate with school leaders and teaching teams.
