Role Context
The Behavioural Support Lead plays a critical role in supporting students’ emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour, and overall pastoral development. This position works closely with Heads of Year and school leadership to manage behavioural concerns, provide emotional support, and ensure students receive the guidance needed to succeed both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
* Support Heads of Year on a daily basis with pastoral care and behaviour management issues
* Help provide high-quality support for students facing emotional, behavioural, or social challenges
* Promote student wellbeing through consistent safeguarding and pastoral intervention
* Support students in developing positive behaviour, self-discipline, and emotional resilience
* Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage open communication and support
* Assist in managing behavioural incidents and implementing appropriate intervention strategies
* Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and school leadership to support student progress
* Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student matters with professionalism and discretion
* Contribute to safeguarding procedures and ensure school wellbeing policies are followed
* Support the school vision of developing responsible, ethical, and globally aware future adults
Ideal Profile
* Strong experience in behavioural support, counselling, or student pastoral care
* Excellent interpersonal skills with empathy and emotional intelligence
* Ability to build strong relationships with students and gain their trust
* Strong understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding, and student wellbeing responsibilities
* Knowledge of counselling theories, behavioural support techniques, and emotional development practices
* Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and school staff
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
