Role Context
The Business Studies Teacher - BTEC will be responsible for planning, teaching, assessing, and improving Business Studies curriculum delivery across secondary and post-secondary levels. The role requires strong knowledge of business concepts, curriculum planning, pedagogy, assessment methods, and student progress monitoring. The successful candidate will help students develop commercial awareness, analytical thinking, enterprise skills, and strong academic foundations for examinations and future career pathways.
Key Responsibilities
* Teach Business Studies across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, Key Stage 5, and BTEC programs.
* Plan and deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons that support student understanding and academic progress.
* Prepare lesson plans, learning materials, assessment tasks, and classroom activities based on British Curriculum expectations.
* Evaluate and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and instructional methods to improve learning outcomes.
* Support students in understanding business concepts, enterprise, finance, marketing, operations, management, economics, and real-world commercial applications.
* Develop students’ analytical, problem-solving, communication, research, and business decision-making skills.
* Monitor, assess, and record student progress using reliable and structured assessment procedures.
* Provide constructive feedback to help students improve performance, confidence, and examination readiness.
* Maintain high expectations and aspirations for all students, supporting both academic achievement and personal development.
* Use effective teaching strategies, technology, case studies, projects, and practical examples to make business learning relevant and engaging.
* Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen curriculum planning, assessment standards, and departmental performance.
* Communicate professionally with students, parents, and school staff regarding progress, learning needs, and academic support.
* Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
* Support school policies, safeguarding standards, student welfare, and professional teaching expectations.
Ideal Profile
* Master’s degree in Business Studies, Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or a closely related field.
* B.Ed., QTS, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent teaching qualification is required.
* Proven experience teaching Business Studies in a British Curriculum school.
* Experience teaching Business Studies at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, Key Stage 5, and BTEC level.
* Strong academic background with excellent subject knowledge and teaching pedagogy.
* Well-organized, professional, and committed to high-quality teaching and learning.
* Strong work ethic with the ability to plan, assess, report, and support student progress effectively.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills.
* Ability to motivate students and maintain high expectations for achievement.
* Immediate availability is preferred.
* Candidates on spouse visa will be preferred.
