Role Context
The Dance Teacher plays an important role in developing students’ technical dance skills, creativity, confidence, and performance artistry. This position supports student growth by delivering engaging performing arts education, promoting physical expression, and helping learners build strong foundations for future study and careers in dance and the creative industries.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality Dance lessons from KS1 onwards using engaging and research-informed teaching methods
* Develop students’ technical proficiency, choreography skills, and performance confidence
* Create inclusive learning experiences that encourage creativity, artistic expression, and physical development
* Use specialist facilities and resources to enhance practical learning and performance outcomes
* Introduce students to diverse dance forms and support appreciation of performing arts disciplines
* Integrate inquiry-based learning and interdisciplinary collaboration into classroom delivery
* Assess student progress regularly and provide clear developmental feedback
* Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen curriculum delivery and performing arts programmes
* Participate actively in school performances, extracurricular activities, and community events
* Build strong communication with parents regarding student progress and artistic development
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor of Education or Bachelor’s degree with PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent teaching qualification
* Master’s degree or equivalent qualification preferred
* Proven experience teaching Dance from KS1 and above
* Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills
* Creative and enthusiastic teaching style with passion for performing arts
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues
* Strong collaborative mindset and willingness to share best teaching practices
