Role Context
The Design and Technology Teacher plays a key role in helping students develop innovation, creativity, and confidence through practical and engaging learning experiences. This position supports academic progress by delivering strong curriculum-based instruction while encouraging independent thinking, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving skills in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver inspiring Design and Technology lessons that help students achieve strong academic outcomes
* Plan and prepare engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards and school teaching objectives
* Organise classroom resources, displays, and practical learning activities that create a positive learning environment
* Teach students across different ability levels using differentiated learning strategies for effective progress
* Motivate pupils through enthusiastic, imaginative, and student-centred lesson delivery
* Assess student progress regularly and use performance data to improve lesson planning and intervention strategies
* Maintain accurate student development records using Target Tracker and school assessment systems
* Support students with EAL and additional learning needs through inclusive teaching methods
* Follow behaviour management policies and maintain strong classroom discipline with positive reinforcement
* Contribute to curriculum action groups, extracurricular activities, school events, and weekly ECA programmes
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in the related subject with PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification
* Minimum 1 to 2 years of teaching experience in a similar role
* Previous experience working with students where English is not their first language
* Strong passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child
* Professional attitude with strong focus on child wellbeing and safeguarding
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and colleagues
* Active involvement in extracurricular and wider school community activities
* Respect for diversity and strong ability to work within multicultural environments
* Positive and solution-focused attitude toward teaching and teamwork
* Clean enhanced police clearance or Disclosure and Barring Services check
