Role Context
The teacher will develop students\' competence in reading, writing, speaking and listening while delivering the assigned
English curriculum. The classroom may include students entering at different stages, English-language learners, students requiring academic intervention and gifted learners. Careful differentiation and reliable assessment will ensure that each student can make meaningful progress.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver the assigned English curriculum using accurate and current subject knowledge.
* Plan well-sequenced lessons with clear learning objectives.
* Create teaching materials that address different learning styles.
* Use appropriate texts and activities to build language confidence.
* Develop reading comprehension and critical interpretation.
* Strengthen vocabulary, grammar and written accuracy.
* Teach students to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
* Maintain written evidence of lesson planning and preparation.
* Keep curriculum plans, year plans and assessment schedules current.
* Record attendance, achievement and relevant classroom information accurately.
* Adapt instruction for students entering the school at different points.
* Support learners using English as an additional language.
* Provide targeted assistance for students working below expected levels.
* Extend gifted and talented students through appropriately challenging work.
* Set and mark classwork, homework and formal assessments.
* Provide constructive feedback that identifies practical improvement steps.
* Assess and report on student attainment and academic development.
* Use assessment evidence to refine lessons and plan intervention.
* Apply media and classroom technology to enhance learning.
* Promote student wellbeing and provide suitable educational guidance.
* Establish clear routines and expectations for behavior.
