Role Context
Working at teacher level L8.0, the successful candidate will develop students\' ability to interpret demanding texts and communicate sophisticated
ideas in written and spoken English. The position requires confident A-Level teaching together with a broader contribution to curriculum quality, student intervention and school culture. Consistent assessment and timely support will help learners move toward ambitious academic and university goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver English lessons aligned with applicable GCSE and A-Level specifications.
* Build students\' knowledge of literary texts, language techniques and relevant contexts.
* Teach close reading, textual comparison and independent interpretation.
* Develop analytical, argumentative, creative and academic writing.
* Strengthen students\' vocabulary, grammar and control of written expression.
* Guide sixth-form learners in constructing sustained and well-supported arguments.
* Model high-quality responses and explain examination expectations clearly.
* Use questioning and discussion to develop critical thinking.
* Adapt lesson content for different attainment levels and learning needs.
* Create an inclusive environment where students participate confidently.
* Monitor attainment and progress through regular formative assessment.
* Mark work accurately and provide specific guidance for improvement.
* Use performance evidence to identify students requiring intervention.
* Plan targeted support and track whether it produces the intended progress.
* Extend high-achieving students through wider reading and challenging assignments.
* Prepare students systematically for internal and external examinations.
* Teach revision, time-management and examination-response strategies.
