The English Teacher - Language and Literacy will help students become confident readers, writers, speakers and
critical thinkers. Through carefully structured instruction and purposeful assessment, the teacher will raise academic achievement while creating opportunities for students to explore literature, language, contemporary issues and sustainable values.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging English lessons aligned with the school\'s curriculum and academic expectations.
* Develop students\' reading comprehension, writing accuracy, vocabulary, grammar and oral communication.
* Introduce literature and language concepts through relevant texts, discussion and analytical activities.
* Create student-centred lessons that encourage curiosity, interpretation and independent thought.
* Incorporate environmental awareness and sustainable themes into suitable learning activities.
* Establish clear objectives, success criteria and progression pathways for each unit of study.
* Adapt instruction for learners with different abilities, language backgrounds and educational needs.
* Prepare meaningful classroom resources, presentations, reading materials and digital content.
* Use questioning, collaborative tasks and individual assignments to check understanding.
* Design formative and summative assessments that measure knowledge, skills and application.
* Provide specific feedback that helps students improve their written and spoken English.
* Analyse achievement data and adjust teaching plans in response to identified learning gaps.
* Deliver targeted support and extension work where students require additional challenge or intervention.
* Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment outcomes and academic progress.
* Build an orderly classroom culture based on respect, participation and high expectations.
* Use educational technology to enhance reading, writing, research and classroom interaction.
* Encourage responsible use of information sources and appropriate academic referencing.
* Communicate constructively with parents about progress, strengths and development priorities.
