Role Context
Global Politics helps students examine how power, rights, development and political choices shape societies and
international relationships. The teacher will connect political theory with contemporary events while creating a classroom where students can investigate contested ideas respectfully. Effective instruction will prepare learners for IB assessment and help them become informed, independent and globally aware thinkers.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver inquiry-based Global Politics lessons for secondary students.
* Align units, learning objectives and assessment with IB Diploma Programme requirements.
* Teach key concepts relating to power, sovereignty, legitimacy and political systems.
* Explore human rights, development, conflict, peace and global interactions.
* Introduce relevant ideas from political theory and international relations.
* Use current affairs and real-world case studies to deepen conceptual understanding.
* Present political issues through balanced perspectives and credible evidence.
* Establish discussion protocols that support respectful debate and intellectual risk-taking.
* Help students distinguish evidence, interpretation, opinion and political bias.
* Develop analytical essay writing and structured argument.
* Teach research methods, source evaluation and accurate academic referencing.
* Guide students in selecting evidence that supports well-reasoned conclusions.
* Integrate appropriate technology and digital sources into classroom inquiry.
* Differentiate instruction for English-language learners and students with additional needs.
* Extend gifted learners through complex questions and independent investigation.
* Assess student knowledge, skills and conceptual development regularly.
* Maintain accurate records of attainment and academic progress.
* Provide feedback that identifies practical next steps for improvement.
* Use assessment data to plan intervention and targeted support.
* Prepare students for internal and external IB assessment components.
* Collaborate with Diploma Programme colleagues on concept-driven curriculum planning.
* Participate in moderation and standardization of assessed work.
* Communicate academic progress and concerns to parents through approved channels.
* Support Model United Nations and other relevant enrichment activities.
* Contribute to school events, community initiatives and wider student life.
* Engage in professional learning and reflect on the impact of teaching strategies.

Ideal Profile
Applicants should hold a recognized Bachelor of Education, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent teaching qualification in Humanities, Social Sciences or another relevant field. At least three years of successful secondary teaching experience is required. Previous delivery of IB Diploma Global Politics is preferred but not essential.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of international relations, political theory and contemporary global affairs. Confidence with inquiry-based, discussion-led and concept-driven instruction is important, together with the classroom judgment needed to handle sensitive issues responsibly.
