The Head of Inclusion - SEN Leadership is responsible for driving inclusive education standards across the academy by managing intervention programmes, leading SEN staff, and ensuring students receive appropriate academic and emotional support. This position works closely with leadership teams, parents, and external agencies to improve student outcomes and strengthen whole-school inclusion practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver intervention programmes across the academy for students requiring additional learning support
* Coordinate in-class support for targeted students across primary and secondary phases
* Write, review, and monitor IEPs to ensure progress and effective provision
* Manage HLTAs, LSAs, SEN teachers, and Inclusion Assistants to maintain high support standards
* Develop and manage timetables for inclusion support and intervention delivery
* Analyse student performance data regularly to improve planning and educational provision
* Conduct classroom observations and recommend effective teaching strategies for inclusion
* Maintain accurate student records and regularly update Edukey systems
* Deliver SEN and inclusion training sessions for teaching staff
* Arrange meetings with parents and coordinate support plans for POD students
* Work closely with external agencies and internal leadership teams to strengthen inclusion outcomes
* Coordinate access arrangements for IGCSE, GCSE, and IB examinations
* Maintain departmental resources, budget control, and safe learning environments
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor Degree in Special Education or equivalent field with PGCE or recognised teaching qualification
* SEN Qualification at Master’s level or external certification in a SEN specialism
* Minimum 6 years of experience in Special Educational Needs leadership
* Previous experience leading SEN or Learning Support within primary or secondary schools
* Experience working with students where English is not their first language
* Strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and student development
* Excellent resilience, confidentiality, and professional judgement
* Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining high standards
