Head of Secondary - CBSE School in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a senior Education leadership role for an experienced school leader with strong CBSE curriculum knowledge, proven secondary school leadership experience, and the ability to drive academic excellence, student wellbeing, staff performance, and continuous school improvement. This role is ideal for a dynamic Head or Deputy Head of Secondary who can support the Principal, lead the secondary wing, and contribute to the school’s strategic vision, inspection readiness, teaching standards, and pastoral care.
Role Context
The Head of Secondary - CBSE School will be part of the Senior Leadership Team and will directly support the Principal in strengthening the school’s vision, mission, policies, teaching and learning outcomes, pastoral systems, and operational standards. The role requires strong turnaround leadership competencies, deep understanding of CBSE board examination standards, confidence in KHDA and DSIB inspection frameworks, and the ability to lead teachers, students, parents, and stakeholders with professionalism, integrity, inclusion, and solution-focused decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to the strategic leadership of the school as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Principal.
* Uphold the school’s vision, mission, values, policies, and improvement priorities while supporting the Principal in driving school excellence.
* Lead the day-to-day operations, academic affairs, pastoral care, and performance standards of the secondary wing.
* Ensure effective implementation of the CBSE curriculum, board examination preparation, assessment standards, and academic monitoring processes.
* Contribute to school improvement planning, self-evaluation, teaching quality reviews, and learning outcome enhancement.
* Supervise instructional programs by reviewing lesson plans, observing classroom practice, and providing developmental feedback to teachers.
* Promote best-practice pedagogy, student-centered learning, differentiated instruction, and effective classroom delivery.
* Maintain fair, consistent, and effective discipline, attendance, safeguarding, and student welfare systems aligned with school values.
* Demonstrate the highest ethical and professional standards when working with students, parents, staff, governing bodies, and external stakeholders.
* Foster a learning environment focused on academic excellence, holistic education, inclusion, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.
* Develop innovative and engaging learning designs that strengthen the capability and confidence of the leadership team.
* Align teaching, learning, and assessment practices with performance improvement standards and student progress targets.
* Support the integration and enhancement of UAE culture in line with National Agenda expectations and regulatory guidelines.

* Liaise with curriculum and assessment teams to review curriculum development, data triangulation, progress, attainment, and key performance indicators.
* Prepare supporting evidence and documentation for KHDA inspections, audits, DSIB reviews, and governing body requirements.
* Lead performance management, coaching, mentoring, and professional development for staff within the secondary wing.
* Support teachers’ skills and competencies through sustained school improvement plans and continuous professional development activities.
* Maintain confidentiality of student, staff, parent, and school records, using professional discretion within legal and policy boundaries.
* Remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented during high-pressure situations and operational challenges.
Ideal Profile
* Master’s degree in Education or a related field is preferred.
* Minimum 3 years of experience as part of a senior school leadership team.
* Previous experience as Head of Secondary or Deputy Head of Secondary is strongly preferred.
* Strong experience in a CBSE curriculum school, preferably within Dubai or the UAE.
* Excellent understanding of CBSE curriculum delivery, board examination assessment standards, progress tracking, and attainment monitoring.
* UAE school experience with KHDA and DSIB inspection frameworks is highly desirable.
* Proven ability to develop teachers’ skills through school improvement plans, coaching, mentoring, and continuous professional development.
* Experience designing, executing, and evaluating learning and development training programs, including live and online workshops.
* Strong ability to diagnose training needs and measure the effectiveness of staff development initiatives.
* Strong knowledge of learning leadership trends, school improvement practices, and best-in-class education solutions.
* Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, student wellbeing, and child protection policies.
* Excellent command of English with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
