The Head of Secondary - School Leadership serves as a key executive member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the Principal and overseeing the full secondary division. This role is responsible for academic performance, student well-being, operational excellence, curriculum leadership, and strategic planning while ensuring compliance with international standards and UAE education regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the academic, social, and emotional development of students across Years 7 to 13
* Ensure a safe, secure, and high-performing learning environment for all students
* Oversee curriculum planning, policies, procedures, and quality assurance across the secondary school
* Support the Principal in strategic planning and implementation of school-wide policies and objectives
* Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, ADEK regulations, and UAE Ministry of Education requirements
* Supervise curriculum development, assessment systems, extracurricular programmes, and staff development
* Monitor teaching quality through lesson observations and evaluation of instructional programmes
* Manage key operational structures including timetables, supervision systems, and academic scheduling
* Act as a strong advocate and spokesperson for the school with students, parents, and staff
* Ensure staff receive appropriate professional development and resources for successful performance
* Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team to drive school improvement and innovation
* Lead standards-based assessment strategies and support continuous academic improvement
Ideal Profile
* Master’s degree with certification in Educational Leadership is required
* Teaching experience at secondary level within an international school environment
* Minimum 5 years of secondary school administrative leadership experience
* Previous experience as Assistant Principal, Associate Principal, or Head of Division preferred
* Strong knowledge of GCSE, UK Curriculum, and IB Programmes
* Understanding of UAE Ministry of Education and ADEK regulations related to curriculum and compliance
* Recent IB CPD and commitment to international education standards
* Strong leadership, decision-making, and conflict resolution abilities
