The Key Stage Leader - Upper Primary is responsible for ensuring strong curriculum delivery, outstanding teaching quality, and measurable student progress across upper primary year groups. This leadership role supports school improvement by guiding teachers, using performance data effectively, and maintaining high educational standards for all learners.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement department policies and teaching practices aligned with school vision and academic excellence
* Establish short-term, medium-term, and long-term development plans for the upper primary phase
* Use student achievement data to identify learning gaps and implement targeted support plans
* Ensure schemes of work are developed, reviewed, and updated for all year groups
* Maintain curriculum continuity, progression, and inclusive learning for SEN, gifted, and EAL students
* Monitor teaching quality and identify effective practice and improvement areas across the department
* Lead staff performance management in line with school policy and professional standards
* Manage departmental resources, staffing deployment, and capital expenditure budgets effectively
* Create stimulating learning environments that support engagement and academic success
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
* Minimum 6 years of teaching experience with strong UK curriculum exposure
* Previous experience leading a phase, key stage, or primary academic team
* Secure knowledge of the English National Curriculum and assessment systems
* Proven ability to improve teaching standards and student learning outcomes
* Strong leadership, mentoring, and collaborative working abilities
* Passion for student development and commitment to educational excellence
