Role Context
The Middle School English Teacher - Language Arts
will develop students\' reading, writing, speaking, listening and critical-thinking abilities during a key stage of academic growth. The teacher will deliver a balanced English programme that combines literary study, language development, research, discussion and written expression while supporting the academy\'s established standards of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging middle school English lessons aligned with the American curriculum.
* Develop student proficiency in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary and oral communication.
* Teach a broad range of literary and informational texts.
* Guide students in analysing themes, characters, structure, language and authorial purpose.
* Design writing tasks that develop narrative, analytical, persuasive and research-based skills.
* Establish clear learning objectives, success criteria and curriculum progression.
* Use varied teaching strategies to address different abilities and learning needs.
* Create student-centred activities that encourage discussion, collaboration and independent thought.
* Prepare high-quality teaching materials, presentations, texts and digital resources.
* Integrate educational technology into reading, writing and research activities.
* Assess learning through classwork, projects, presentations, written assignments and formal examinations.
* Provide timely and constructive feedback that helps students improve accuracy, fluency and depth of analysis.
* Analyse student performance data and use findings to adapt instruction.
* Plan targeted intervention for students requiring additional academic support.
* Provide suitable extension activities for high-achieving learners.
* Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment outcomes and student progress.
