Role Context
The Middle School Social Studies Teacher plays a key role in developing students’ understanding of history, geography, civics, and global citizenship through engaging and inquiry-based instruction. This position supports student growth by delivering meaningful Social Studies lessons, encouraging analytical thinking, and helping learners build strong academic foundations within a world-class middle school environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging and interactive Social Studies lessons aligned with school curriculum standards and academic expectations
* Develop creative teaching strategies that inspire a love for Social Studies and strengthen critical thinking skills
* Support students in understanding history, geography, civics, culture, and global citizenship concepts
* Ensure continuity in curriculum delivery across middle school levels and maintain strong academic standards
* Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students
* Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages curiosity, discussion, and exploration
* Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive academic feedback for improvement
* Collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive and high-performing learning environment
* Participate in parent-teacher conferences and maintain effective communication with families
* Contribute to school events, interdisciplinary projects, and wider academic programmes
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor of Education degree or an initial degree with PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent teaching qualification in Social Studies
* Proven experience teaching Middle School Social Studies, preferably within an American or IB curriculum school
* Strong knowledge of inquiry-based learning and hands-on Social Studies education
* Excellent classroom management and lesson planning skills
* Strong communication and collaboration abilities
* Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
