Role Context
The Phase Level Lead - Foundation Stage plays a strategic leadership role within the Primary Leadership Team by overseeing Foundation Stage operations, teaching quality, student progress, and pastoral care. This position ensures outstanding early years provision through strong leadership, staff development, data-driven improvement, and innovative learning experiences that help every child achieve success.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Foundation Stage phase team in alignment with the school vision, Key Drivers, School Development Plan, and strategic priorities
* Drive school improvement initiatives that raise standards and create innovative approaches to teaching and learning
* Establish and communicate a clear and ambitious vision for the phase with consistently high-quality educational outcomes
* Lead the MER process including Monitoring, Evaluation, and Review to ensure strong quality assurance across teaching and learning
* Inspire staff to deliver innovative, purposeful, and challenging learning opportunities for all students
* Ensure strong pastoral care and wellbeing systems are effectively implemented across the phase
* Line manage and support Heads of Year while providing accountability, coaching, and professional development opportunities
* Lead data collection, analysis, and interpretation to identify learning gaps and implement effective interventions
* Ensure high-quality intervention programmes support and challenge all student groups to achieve their potential
* Drive professional development through coaching, CPD sessions, team teaching, and sharing of best practices including support for ECTs
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor Degree in Education or Bachelor of Arts with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
* Minimum 3 years teaching experience within the English National Curriculum
* Strong leadership experience in school improvement and team management is essential
* Proven EYFS experience is essential
* Strong understanding of curriculum leadership, student progress tracking, and intervention planning
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with staff, parents, and leadership teams
* Ability to work under pressure, solve problems, and manage challenging situations effectively
* Strong commitment to the school vision, mission, and educational excellence
* Reflective and strategic mindset focused on continuous improvement and innovation
